I know I shouldn't be believing anything on RealGM but there are mixed reports on the Kobe/KG talk. Someone posted that KFAN says Kobe is talking to KG right now and is trying to convince him to join the Lakers. His big hook? Buss told him that he would sign Chauncey Billups.
No way we sign Chauncey Billups with the MLE.

Well, that contradicts what I heard Chad say on the radio not all that long ago. He NEVER said that the deal was a lock, in fact his position was that it was basically dead if there weren't more teams involved than just Minni and LA. |

Something that nobody is talking about. What about Odom? Does he have any say in this? This guy has been through a lot as we all know, and has made it clear in the past that he really wants to stay in LA. I really can't see Odom too thrilled to play in MN.

That's great news. I'm not concerned about Kupchak's comments. I can't remember the last time that a GM said, "Yeah, things are looking GREAT!" about a deal that wasn't finalized. |

| Bucher just said on Outside the Lines that Mitch is very pessimistic a deal will get done and he (Bucher) thinks it is very unlikely "at this point." Of course, he changes his story almost by the hour now. He also said, and it's more positive, that Kobe's camp is now indicating Kobe is in a wait and see mode and won't comment on "what ifs," but, if the Lakers get Garnett, it would certainly give him pause to consider (or words to that effect) staying with the Lakers. So, I don't know: it seems odd to me that Kobe's camp would leak that apparent change in position which sounds like a deal might happen, if the deal really is very unlikely at this point (unless, of course, Kobe knows it won't happen so is willing to sound now like he may have stayed had it happened). |
