It wasn't unfathomable to question what kind of year that would have for 06 prior to them losing some of their main help. Now, the poll. |

Wouldn't make more sense to wait until we see who's on their team at the start of the season? And this is a Lakers forum, if you're asking a Phoenix question/poll this is the wrong place.
Also, I have no idea what you are trying to say here:

Actually they could be even better than last year if they resign JJ : they have added a tough player like Thomas to help Amare and Marion and they have improved perimeter defense with Raja Bell.
They lost Q, but they have so many players who can hit the three from downtown...
If they are able to keep JJ, I see them improved, expecially on defense. |

LeBron?
Nash was the MVP of the league last season and the single biggest difference maker on the court in the league.
Amare is a beast. By the end of the playoffs, he was toying with Tim Duncan to the tune of about 37 a game.
Nothing against LeBron, but basically he is at the same level as a young Vince Carter and nothing better. Nike Ad campaign or not.
Shaq? Over Amare? I think not. I actually watch the games friend, get the league pass this year.
KG? Overrated, but a great player.
Kobe, no argument.
Tinman Duncan, no argument. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Mainly, I'm talking about winning the division and riding the 3 seed into the playoffs.
Hunter's not a great player right now but didn't he do a thing or two for them in the playoffs?
Nash is only getting older...etc..etc |

Will the Lakers win the Pacific if Phoenix can only muster 45-50?

It's hard to admit but even with some teams improving, they could hit 65 this year. If they could care less about luxury tax and match the JJ offer, and with or without Finley, they're going to sport a great team. The scary thing is Kurt Thomas. He's not an All-Star, but last year you could head into a game with a Physical advantage inside, but his added rebounding means they can match up with just about any team. I'm not as obsessed with Raja Bell as a few in here were, but he is a good defensive guy to pair with Barbosa off the bench. If anything, losing Steven Hunter could mean that the 5 or 10 minutes you don't play Amare you don't have a shot blocker, but wow is that a reach.
I really believe that the Lakers are on the right path, and though they don't reach that level, they could steal a few wins and maybe a avoid them in the playoffs. Maybe they don't strike it rich in 2007, but the Lakers WILL compete with Phoenix after this year. I'm not conceding to them, just being realistic. |

Actually, come to think of it....a young Vince Carter was probably better.
Unless you think putting up big numbers in meaningless regular season games is better than putting up big numbers in playoff games.
No one is top 5 in the league when they can't even get their team to the playoffs in the East. LeBron is talented, but honestly I think he is very overhyped. Not only is he not a top 5 NBA player, he isn't even top 10. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Wow!!!!!!
I hope this is a joke...I agree that he's not a top 5 talent YET, but there is NO WAY he's not in the top 10...
Kobe
Tim Duncan
Shaq
KG
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AI
Ray Allen
T-Mac
JO
Vince
Lebron is right up there with any on the last 5...he'll likely be in the top 3 within the next 5 years...the guys in the top 4 are VERY multi-dimensional FRANCHISE players...if they have 4 starting quality players around them, that's a dangerous team...
The last 5, IMHO, fit in a system and work best when the team is geared towards running the offense thru them...right now, that's where LeBron is...
Now that you have read this breakdown, I hope you can backtrack a little to correct the error of your ways... |

And with one case of premature judgement, yours is called into question.
Lebron is on is way there, but if I want to win next year, and next year only, I take Nash. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Amare doesn't rebound and man D is terrible.
there is no defense in Nash's dictionary.
Top 5 in the league? ROFL. |

hehe, I thought I was voting for how many wins the Lakers would have.
I thought that the Phoenix reference was to the mythological bird who rose from the ashes. (i.e. last season we sucked, this year we shall rise again). Shoulda known better than to expect that type of allusion to pop up on a bball board. |
