There's no reason why Mitch shouldn't be able to negotiate this deal. It benefits all parties.
Portland: gets a young back-up for Pryzbilla as well as a solid veteran in Grant. While at the same time getting rid of a head case and a bad contract in Patterson and Ratliff.
Boston: would get to buyout the rest of vlade's contract, as well as bobbitt, saving their luxary tax as well as freeing up some roster spots, while getting a more controlled, taller, natural, back-up pg in Vujacic. At the same time they're dumping Blounts ugly contract.
LA: And as for the lakers, Ratliff would take care of our necessity of a legitamite back-up "big." Slava and Cook would enter games only as our "last resorts."
Also, there going to be times when Odom will be foul trouble forcing him to sit. In turn Kobe will have to carry more of the offensive load, causing him to tire more on defense. And at that exact point, Patterson can come in simply for a Tayshaun Prince, Bruce Bowen role. (should be self-explanatory)
Banks would be the back-up PG to relieve DA from time to time and occassionally start. To expect DA to cover the west's top PGs night after night without any rest would be unfair and unrealistic.
There will be nights When Banks would start, having Smush and possibly Wafer, as his back-ups. (and vice-versa)
well our line up will look something like this
Mihm/ Ratliff
Kwame/Cook/ Slava
Odom/ Patterson/
Kobe/Smush/Wafer
DA/Banks
D-League
Bobbit
Walton
George
Bynum
Douthit
Thats atleast a 50 win squad with Phil at the helm, but there is stillroom for adjustments and slight improvement. In a perfect world Boston would release Bobbit, giving him the option to earn d-league play as well as possible real P/T. George and Slava would be traded for Bender, and Walton, Wafer, and Smush could theoretically compete night after night for the two open active roster spots. |

What happened to Jones after the impressive year he had with us last year. He isn't even mentioned for a roster spot when right now he is certainly our back up SF at this point. Further more, I'd rather have the 26 year old Jones as our back up SF than Patterson.
Also you've got to many people going to the D-league, including Bobbit right after we have traded him. I also don't see Walton or George as D-league personel, frankly. _________________ Rule = win titles
