no i dont see it happening cuz we will already have kwame in the lineup who will take away some of the rebounds and i dont see a scoring change either. hes good just that will kobe getting 30,6,6 there isnt much stats left for the other players, it doesnt matter neways neways cuz all that matters is we make the playoffs... _________________ Kobe is the GREATEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD...hands down |

No, I dont think he'll make it just cause there is WAY to many forwards he will have to beat out in the west. KG, Duncan, Dirk, McGrady, Amare, Marion, Carmelo, Brand, Kirilenko. Thats just to many names he has to beat out. It would take a monster season for him to make it and I dont think he will have a monster season. A good season yes but just not an all star one. |

I say yes - he's going back to SF now that Kwame is here and I think playing in Phil Jackson's system will get Lamar more opportunities to show his stuff. Odom was really underused last season - he's gonna get more scoring chances and some more playing time. I think Odom will have a good shot at being an All-Star. Don't forget he was on Team USA in the olympics last year. |

Unlikely unless the Lakers are a Top 4 team in the west.
Even if he plays muvh better and puts up the numbers we envision for him (18/7/5/1/1) he would still be competing with players like Shawn Marion, Andre Kirilenko, Peja Stojakovic and Rashard Lewis. That's assuming that T-Mac isn't voted in as a SF and the same with KG.
He would have to best Shawn Marion which is going to be hard to do considering the Suns are an elite team and Marion has been in very good standing in the league.
All Star talent ala Brand that continually loses out because of the great forward depth in the west? Yes. |

He had an All-Star season in Miami and still didn't make the All-Star team. _________________ Lakers |

I seriously doubt it.
I do believe he will have his best year yet with PJ's coaching and being more involved in starting the offense. But the West is LOADED with SF talent ... McGrady ... Peja ... Carmelo ... Rashard ... all averaged 20+ ppg and all Shawn Marion did was average 19.4 ppg AND 11.3 rpg.
Odom averaged 15 and 10 ... really a pretty good year ... but he'd have to improve dramatically to beat out the five above. |

it looks like the yes votes are catching up.
I'd like to see it happen, but i don't think so. I hope I'm wrong.
But when I think about who he would have to pass up...
Can you really see him passing Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett in the fan voting?
I don't see it.
As far as reserves goes he would have to pass up...
Dirk Nowitzki
Amare Stoudamire (probably not a center this year with Thomas being added, but unknown right now)
Others he'd be cometing with would be:
Carmelo Anthony
Peja Stojakovic
Andre Kirilenko
Pau Gasol
Kenyon Martin
I'm sure you could add more, or debate whether some of these names belong on the list.
But i guess thats why they play the games. |

Carmelo Anthony
Peja Stojakovic
Andre Kirilenko
Tracy McGrady
Shawn Marion
Those are the players he'd have to beat out at small forward. A very daunting task. Probably only three of those players make it. T-Mac and Marion are locks. That leaves one opening.
I have faith my boy can do it. If the Jazz suck as bad as last year I think he can beat out AK47 for that final spot. Go Lo. _________________ The great Laker Center Tradition continues.....Mikan, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Gasol, AD....Gasol. |

Some things would have to happen. First, look at the top forwards in the west:
Stoudemire
Duncan
Marion
Garnett
Stojakovic
Lewis
Kirilenko
Brand
Anthony
Nowitzki
That field can be narrowed. Nowitzki and Stoudemire both play a lot of center and could end up there. Brand won't make it just because he's a Clipper. The Kings and Sonics are likely to drop off this year and Lewis and Peja can easily fall out of contention. Let's just say Stoudemire gets on as a center and those three drop out. He's still gotta beat out:
Duncan
Nowitzki
Garnett
Kirilenko
Anthony
Marion
Assuming five forwards make the team, he has to beat at least one of those guys. I could see him having a better year than Kirilenko, or AK just being overlooked because the Jazz are dwelling in the cellar. It's also possible that one of those guys gets hurt, but they're all likely to be better fantasy players than he is. Anthony won't be, because all he does is score, but his team should be pretty good. |

I guess there's a difference between someone who deserves to go versus someone that actually gets selected. All Star games are usually a popularity contest. Odom might put up All Star numbers and have every right to go but may not get enough votes. |

I figured fan voting would bring in Duncan and Garnett.
So the other spots would be up to the coaches and whoever else.
The only reason I could see him getting in at all is as a reserve.
But yeah, even if he deserved to go he might not. He would truly have to have a breakout season. Not just major improvement, but a breakout season. |
