I'm a frequent lurker and an occasional poster. Right after the Shaq trade, I was desperately looking for a new source for Laker news and info. I was really unhappy how the LA Times was so anti-Lakers (especially back then) and referred to the Lakers as the laKers (K=Kobe), and what a disaster the Lakers were, and how it was all of Kobe's fault, and how poor a teammate Kobe was.
I somehow stubbled upon a Hoopsworld article written by a guy named Eric Pincus (I am now well aware of Emplay, and thoroughly enjoy his contributions to this site) who called out a website called Lakersground.net in one of his write-ups. I cannot express how thrilled I was to discover this website and this community. Now it is a part of my daily life as a Laker fan.
I love reading all the posts, the hilarious banter, the requisite nicknames that must be given to all newly acquired Lakers (Mother TAriza is one of my personal favorites-I still laugh about that one whenever I think about it), the OFFICIAL "THIS or THAT" THREADS, and I enjoy reading the endless support and criticism threads devoted to each and every Laker (Odom, Luke, Sasha, etc) and how the criticism transforms into accolades when a Laker plays well and how the opposite happens when they start stinking it up. I really, truly love this place and I am honored to be a member of this community (albeit a rather silent one).
So with all that LG.net has given me, I had to give back what I could. My $50 goes to all of you in the hopes of a strong and robust server come playoff time. Because as much as I visit the site now, when it's playoff time, I will practically live here and I never want to be denied access due to a server problem in April that I can help avoid today.
Good luck, godspeed, and for goodness sake GO (bleep)ING LAKERS!!! _________________ I loved you on this day. I love this memory. |

I made a donation. I'll do my best to give a couple more bucks in the next few days.
I live off of LG to go. That part of the site is invaluable. Let's not drop that once we get on the new server.

We're past the $2,500 mark!
For those who have donated -- thank you! I'm proud of your commitment to the site.
For those who haven't (yet) donated -- we need one final push to take us over the top. Help us out -- even if it's just a little. |

I think it's great that 87 people have contributed so far. But we have 20,000+ registered members!
C'mon people. We should be able to do better than that! |

I don't think we have Paypal set up but if any of you want to contribute that way you can use my (my wifes really) Paypal e-mail, salsie2u [AT] hotmail.com and i will make sure it gets to DB/the server fund.
I was going to set up an auction to raise some money. I can't get my camera to work to get it up on Ebay. But, until I do I will give Kobe and other Lakers playing cards to those who make a donation. I have hundreds/thosands of cards, some graded. The more your donation the better cards you'll get. if you pay by Paypal with that e-mail I'll have your shipping address. If you want cards and pay with Amazon you'l have to pm me you address.
I am very proud of the LG 87 that have contributed. Come on the rest of you! You can spare say $10. We would reach our goal if we had just 100 users do that. And you'd have the sense of being part of this community.
Do it Mitch!
