|

Take your pick!
Personally, I want to see Ty Lue on the team (that is of course if the Hawks don't snag him first). He knows the triangle and I think Phil likes him.
I do not think we should persue Pargo, I just don't think he is fit for this roster, I do not now why. As for Banks, if we can do a one for one deal, I think it should be good. If we have to throw in Sasha or JJones, then fine...
...but if we were to persue Jalen Rose, then I think we should not go after Banks. I think Mitch needs to focus on getting Rose right now, and not think about Banks until the Rose trade is completed. If we get rose, we should use the rest of our trade assets to persue Banks or another big. But Rose first. If we can't get Rose, THEN we go and focus on Banks.
As for Curry, I think if we can snag him, it would be great, but we have to see if he decides to "retire". His heart may be a problem, but I think we should take the chance.
As for our current roster, I really want to see JJones stay, he is a great solid CHEAP shooter. George and Slava can go, but I want to see Divac stay. We need his toughness in the paint. As for Cook, he is maturing, but I would use him to grab a big or Rose. I do not know why, but I do not feel good about Mihm starting..his best game last year was one of the first. I want to see somebody else out there. But if Mihm has to start, he can, he did last year....
Now on Aaron Mckie, I think he is a good pickup. DA tried to to trick us into giving him more cash, and his attitude is not one that i really like. AM can me a good pickup..Only if he stays healthy.
Now onto Sasha...I think unless he needs to be included into a trade, we should keep him. But if we got Lue, Pargo, or Rose, he should be in the trade. I have no idea what Phil thinks of Sasha, but I really have not enjoyed what I have seen so far on him.
So here we are, Mitch with 2.5 mil in his right hand, and a handful of people he can trade with the other. We have a month or two left, Whatza gonna do Mitch? |

If we acquire Rose then we would have the following guards under contract:
Kobe 6-6
Rose 6-8
Mckie 6-5
Sasha 6-7
Wafer 6-5
Parker 6-4
Profit 6-5
That is 7 guards under contract, obviously way to many and a lot of duplication.
Who do we keep ?
Kobe 6-6
Rose 6-8
Mckie 6-5
Wafer 6-5
Are MUST keepers, imo.
That would place Sasha, Parker and Profit on the bubble, so what do we do ?
Trade for a big would be the most likely answer, I'm sure. But I think that only Sasha has any trade value at all and would certainly have to be packaged with say Slava or George or both to get anyone of any value and would also be necessary anyway to make room on the roster.
One problem, I'm not so sure the Laker organization wants to give up on Sasha, including Phil.
Another problem, we need a quick guard for the speedsters and thus Parker is critical unless we replace him with an upgrade for that need.
Thus with these problems and the glutted roster of signed players, I'm not so sure we will be going after another guard, Rose incuded (as much as it would be nice to have Rose).
We are also glutted at Forward (especially SF):
PF: Kwame, Slava, Cook
SF: Odom, George, Jones, Luke
That's again 7 forwards under contract.
With Mihm and Bynum under contract at center that would be 16 players under contract if we added Rose, and that's not even considering Vlade, who frankly I think will end up returning this year.
So with Vlade, that would then be 17 under contract with Rose aboard...
Certainly if we acquire any more players (such as Rose) something has to give via a trade in a multi-player deal. _________________ Rule = win titles

In the LA Times, it mentioned the Lakers were interested in Watson and Pargo. I would assume that means the Lakers have Watson as a higher priority than Pargo. If they can't get Watson, they'll go for Pargo. |

man, I don't care...whatever this trade is that Mitch has brewing, he better get it done quick. Right now, we can't even sign any of the remaining FAs out there because we're maxed out on the roster.
If we do have space after a trade, I think Earl Watson is the best choice out there for PG. He's used to platooning at that spot, because that's what he did in Memphis with Jason Williams. Plus, statistically, he's the #6 defensive PG in the league (per 48 mins). And no one's even trying to get him right now! |

Watson is first.
Banks is second.
Both are the type of defenders we need, but Watson is just a better "basketball player" than Banks. He's a better shooter, plays under more control and just seems more like a Phil guy. But I'd have no problem with us bringing in Banks. I'd love to see us have a guard with that much defensive intensity and explosivness.
Pargo would be third on the list and Lue is a distant fourth... and frankly, I just don't understand the love-fest with Lue around here. He never really seemed all that fast to me, he's not much of a playmaker, he tends to over-penetrate and not only is he NOT an "Iverson-stopper," he's just not much of a defender at all. _________________ Everything. Curry for Mihm+filler
Watson for the other half of the MLE.
Wait that makes too much sense. It will never happen. |

if there is no blockbuster coming in which we need to use all of our ex. contracts, the easiest move mitch can do to really help this team is trade either goerge of vlade (take your pick) for danny fortson.
as sad as it sounds - he would be a huge upgrade for our team right now. |

I don't care who it is, just as long as it will be complimentary to what the team needs and the players picked up are going to contribute in some manner.
I'm not a big Mitch fan, but if he proves me wrong and he puts together a competitive team, as I've said many times before, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about his abilities to draw players in. _________________ Just chill and watch the new Dynasty evolve...

how about this, he guarded lebron in their first sol game, and HE HELD HIS OWN!!!

Everyone wants to play for the Lakers . So there fore out of the players metioned the best availible has to be Jalen Rose . he is big and he can shoot from anywhere. Phil would definetly start him at the point. I mean just imagine him as a way better Ron Harper. |
