Seems to be censoring non-curse words like shot and short. At least I think it is, it could just be multiple unfortunate typos.

ok, just tested it: s h o t, and s h o r t are being censored.

shirt
shelf
shat
shart
shirk
shop
sat
soup
soot
shoot
sh1111t
(bleep)
ishtar
(bleep)
shoots
shiits
(bleep)
(bleep)
(bleep)

Looks like it's censoring any word that starts with sh and ends with T. also censors any word with s h 1 t within it like shi-tzu

I notice typing in s-h-o-t or s-h-o-o-t it comes with a bleep to it.

As in, I shoot the basketball
or I made a shot

Was this added on recently for some reason?

A few weeks ago I wrote the word "feed-back" without the hyphen and it was (bleep) out.

So let me try it now.

As many have surmised, this is the result of us not being careful in specifying patterns for the word censor. Wildcards are often used in an attempt to catch variations of words, but if we're not careful, then it can catch legitimate words also. For example, the pattern "sh*t" will catch "shot" and "shirt", which is obviously not what we intend.

Hence "f*ck" would catch "feedback," or "frock," or "flock"?

I wish this (bleep) censor wouldn't (bleep) up my (bleep). I think it's pure (bleep) the fact that I can't say, "(bleep)," "(bleep)," "princox," "mother (bleep) donkey balls," on this site...

the above was a test of the censor. It seems to be working OK.

^ actually "donkey balls" should automatically change to "pokoy" so something's not right.
