At first glance it comes off to me as contrived to get a big number and feed into the hype. At the same time, they are are business to get people to watch, so they will do whatever it takes to create hype and drama. |

Yeah, but imagine how excited you would have been if the Lakers had won. Schedulers don't have any sway on who wins... or do they? 8) |

I think its great.
The NBA has marquee players. They have big draw teams. They have storylines. They need to exploit them.
Of course, there is a limit, but I don't think scheduling the game on what is historically a big game watching day is a bad thing.
What about Yao Shaq? Wasn't that all hype, but they played into it, and it was great. |

I had to watch it last year in a room full of family who were all Kobe-haters. It was such an awesome game, but it ruined the day when Kobe missed that shot, and they all mocked me. Long drive home.
I hope that I get the last laugh this year. |

Excellent marketing and great for the fans..
I was home Christmas day with family and friends, and we were all on our toes throughout the game (we're all Laker fans).. it was a fun atmosphere (before the lakers lost of course ). but then we brought out the Christmas feast and we were alright again
.. hopefully this year spells redemption
Season's greetings Miami, from all us good folk in L.A. |

I don't care. If the game were on my wedding day I'd still watch it. Doesn't matter to me when they schedule it. It's going to be the highest rated game of the year regardless. So in sum...I don't care. |

I will watch the Lakers any day, but I gotta say, seems like it perpetuates the whole Kobe Snaq thing and I for one am anxious to have something new to talk about!!!!!!!
I hope they win.

NBA's objective is to make money.
It's obviously a good marketing and marketing decision... so why would it ever be "stupid?"
Those of you who have voted as such obviously don't really understand economics. |
