A desperate attempt for wanting his team to get back in the game. LOL | LOL I remember that. Van Gundy said it would mean more if the Lakers won the quarter without Kobe...
then Mike Breen asked Jeff "what's your last name again?"
Jeff: "exactly" |

I never took it as anything but a joke, just like some of all his other wild suggestions.
JVG has been nothing but emphatic in his praise of Kobe, Phil, Pau, and LO throughout the playoffs. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

I know this is a little late, but did anyone kinda seethe at seeing how Stern decided to mention the celtics while lakers were crowned champion? |

Na, think about it for a sec
how would you feel if you're a die hard Laker fan and you're watching a 70+ year old Hall of Fame Laker handing the Finals MVP trophy to the Celtics?
Not too good lol _________________ 237 |

NO, I was pissed that Stern did not allow Bill Russell to at least do the talking. Stern is a self-centered a-hole. How much more would that moment have meant to Kobe had it been the all-time great CELTIC handing a LAKER the first "Bill Russell Playoff MVP" award?
I'd have preferred it... much respect for Russell, so stop hatin'. |

Seeing how the award was named after Russell, and he was a Celtic, it makes sense that it would be mentioned. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I loved it. Probably chapped the collective ass of Celtic Nation.
Watching Jerry West hand the NBA trophy to the Celtics would definitely tick me off. |

flip side of the coin.
Imagine your a celtic fan. One of your players gets the finals mvp named after him and the first one to receive this newly renamed award is...........A LAKER?

I'm pissed enough that his silhouette graces their uniforms. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

This Laker team was a streak buster, so it's fitting it busted up all these streaks.

This team has found a way to win against historical odds and silence all of the critics, it's probably the most satisfying win of the decade as they have shown they have the Heart of a Champion. |

^ Agree, I just emailed Dave and said that he needed to apologize to the fans of LA for those hurtful comments about Chick through the years.
Chick's dedication and love for the Lakers will never be forgotten. |
