Lets look at playoff calibur teams' rosters minus the Franchise player and see how close to the bottom the Lakers are:
Detroit w/o Billups
Easily a contender with a great frontline in Prince and the Wallaces and a good scorer in Rip= A
SA w/o TD
Top 5 backcourt of Parker and Manu...front line is deep with Rasho, Oberto, Horry, etc= B
Dallas w/o Dirk
Athletic forward Howard, presence in the middle with Damp, and def stopper in Griffin, and a deep and talented backcourt with Terry, Harris, and Daniels= B+
Suns w/o Nash
Best SF (not counting Lebron) in the game with Marion, sweet shooters in every position with House, Bell, Jones, Jim Jackson and a monster in the middle with Amare healthy= A-
Miami w/o WadeAll stars Shaq, Walker, Payton...def stopper and shooter Posey...dangerous Jwill...and hustle rebounder Haslem= A-
Cleveland w/o BronDominant center Z, hustle rebounder Gooden, all star slasher Hughes, long range threats Jones and Marshall, veteran defender Snow= B
Memphis w/o Gasol
Deep defense players at every position= B-
Clippers w/o Brand
Strong frontline in Wilcox and Kaman...scorers Maggette and Mobley...great floor general in Cassel= B+
New Jersey w/o Kidd
Ultra talented wingmen Vince and RJ and skilled Kristic= C+
Philly w/o AI
Elite passer scorer rebounder in CWebb and Defense dynamo Dalembert with sweet shooter Korver= B
Denver w/o Melo
Loaded starting 5 with Camby, Martin, Miller, Najera, and Boykins= B+
Lakers w/o Kobe
Lamar "Righty" Odom with no Jumper or post moves but a decent passer, Smush "CBA" Parker can dunk but cannot defend, Kwame "Butter Fingers" Brown can dunk (with 2 hands) but chokes on 5 out of 6 layups, Luke "Cant shoot" Walton, Brian "Can shoot but Cant Move" Cook, Sasha "NBDL" Vujacic and with steals to "reach in fouls when over the limit" ratio of 1 to 10, Devean "Where's Waldo" George who is good one game and HORRIFIC the next, and Chris "Angry Face" Mihm is a decent backup Center= D+
KOBE AND I HATE THIS TEAM |

You stated the obvious. There is no question we have one of the worst supporting cast for teams in the playoff race right now. |

Just IMAGINE Kobe with any one of the lineups you mentioned.
We can only dream... |

You're wrong about Suns, w/o Nash they're a lottery team... that's with or without Amare. |
