Jalen would not have fit for the 07/08 cap dream plan. Only way we take on Jalen's humongous contract is if Bosh is attached. That dream is over now too. I don't realistically see us aqcuiring a top 20 player with our 07/08 cap space dream. So why wait 3 years for mediocrity???

Jalen's contract ends in 06/07. He would have still fit the 07/08 plan.

If we could score Jalen Rose without losing anybody that would be the best ever.

Jalen's always been a sometimes-effort kinda guy.

That's why, like other such players, he "plays with heart" immediately
after a trade, or in a contract-season, etc.

Still not a bad player, but why bring him aboard?

At his age he's just a "band-aid" to keep us competitive.

I'd rather bring aboard guys who at least *might* end up a part of our
bigger picture.

I'm not nixing all vets - just vets like Jalen who aren't exactly great
locker room guys and are not just vets, but on their very last leg.

(oh, and that said - had he been an amnesty cut and signed for LLE or
something I'd have been happy to bring him onboard).

Another thread that's going to knock the plan, Mitch and you know even though it has nothing to do with him - Odom too.

Pathetic.

I watch Raptor games regularly. Jalen is not even half the player you guys remember him in the 2000 NBA Finals.

And where do you guys plan on playing Jalen? At 1? Yeah. That'll work defensively ....

I think Jalen would have helped alot. He has been very good this year for the raps. They want to develop their young guys and asked him to take a backseat, he did so without complaining. Thats why his numbers are down. Not to mention they gave up a 1st to get rid of his contract.

We did not have enough expiring contracts to make a Rose trade happen. If we would have used Vlade's contract instead of buying him out, then it could have been possible.

Jalen is an incredible post player and can drill the 3 if he's open. He's also a clutch player so rather than just Kobe you'd have more threats. Jalen isn't THAT BAD at D. Smush and Chucky bad? Don't exaggerate... I seen enough Raptor games. He actually works, and his ability to also playmake would have helped...

Jalen tanked it for a 17-30 team, but plays hard for a 14-31 team.

Nice.

If we could have gotten Bosh with Rose, I'd have immediately sent Odom packing. Rose could have taken over Odom's role as initiator with ease, and would have been a much better second scoring option. We wouldn't give up much in terms of man defense, Odom isn't exactly a great defender, and Mihm, Bosh, and Brown could easily have picked up the slack in the rebounding department.

Easily have gotten Bosh and Rose? Sorry, Bosh isn't currently available to anyone and has never been.
