What I realize about the Laker Defense is that they have always double teamed a point guard/shooting guard
outside the paint when a screen occurs, and the result is an open shot/dunk. Click for Illustration
In the Illustration above, Chris Mihm double teamed point guard Brevin Knight which resulted to an open Primoz Brezec.
Knight of course passed it to Brezec, Brian Cook tried to rotate to Brezec but because there was some confusion,
he was too slow to contest the shot. The result was an easy jump shot by Brezec.
This is one of the reasons why the Lakers have been inconsistent, they have usually failed to execute their
defensive rotations and when that happens...an open jump shot, 3 pointer or a dunk occurs which kills them.
In my opinion, they should go easy on the defensive double teaming strategy.
Instead they should just focus on basic Man to Man defense which doesn't take risks.
But If there was someone to Double Team, it's the guys that are inside the paint.
What do you guys think? Am I wrong or right about the Laker Defense? Or is it something else?

That's one part of the major problem. We can't stop dribble penetration is the real weakness on D. Playing more man on man D is predicated on actually stopping the primary ball handler. If we can't stop the point, we enable other teams to get into their offensive sets. We desparately need to trade for someone that can stay in front of little guards. |

Alright, after seeing Lakers against Mavs tonight, I think Offense is a major problem as well. Too many 3 point attempts, doesn't attack the basket, doesn't take smart shots. Bad executions... |
