Actually, Battier was the first name that came to mind, even before I opened the thread.

SMART player, decent quickness and upper body strength on defense, fundamentally sound, not afraid to make quick decisions on O or D. Not a bruiser by any stretch, but will not back down -- think of how many times he has TRIED to take charges from Kobe and Shaq over the years. Kind of a Rick Fox, Swiss Army-knife kind of player.

Raja Bell would've been nice.

That's what I would've said. Basically a younger version of Aaron Mckie or Eric Snow.

I think a in the pg position:
Luke Ridinour
Brevin Knight
Mike James
Bobby Jackson

for the pf position:
Joe Smith
Troy Murphy
Charlie Villanueva

for the sf position:
Gerald Green
Kyle Korver
Trevor Ariza

These guys are would help this team I spot shooters that can create for themselves, and pgs that have decent court vision.

Luke Ridinour

FA in 2007.

Problem? From what I have seem of him - he plays very little defense.

The fact is, we need to find a PG that not only can handle the ball, make plays and shoot - but also DEFEND.

That is my man Kirk Hinrich.

Duhon is average at all 3 skills (Playmaking, Ballhandling, Shooting) BUT can defend very well.

So if it were up to me - I trade for Duhon or sign Hinrich in 2007.

I might receive hate mail for this but how bout' a player like Ron Artest.

Na but seriously, I think a player like Hoiberg, if he comes back and is healthy, could play a Kerr type role on the team.

I think anyone with a near-max deal should not be considered a "role player."

That being said:

Duhon
Battier
Boris Diaw
Raja Bell

PG
Raja Bell - perfect backcourt mate
Mike James - tough defender who can hit from outside
Cuttino Mobley - overpaid
Ben Gordon -clutchness and great shooting - how's his defense?
Chris Duhon - love the playmaking
jason Terry - defense and shooting, with decent playmaking skills
kirk hinrich - a bit better than a role player

SF
Boris Diaw - Pippen without an outside shot
James posey - money from outside, tough defender
iguodala ?

PF
Eddie Griffin - Horry with shotblocking and no vet savvy, or sheed with less post game and less post defense. great rebounding
Shane Battier-
Donyell marshall - will open up the floor with his shooting.

C
Jeff Foster
Stephen Hunter
Chris Mihm
Chris Kaman

Iguodala would fit into the system perfect. However, he is going to demand top $$$ so would he still be considered a role player?

I've always loved Eduardo Najera's toughness, I think there's always a place for someone like him on your team.

Wilcox is out there for a shooting big man.
