I was watching NBATV, and I swear I heard Kobe narrating a commercial for Make-A-Wish. The wording went something like, "What can a wish do? Can it find a cure? Can it change a life?....." Then in the end, it said something like, "A wish can do anything. You just have to believe." It showed views of a hospital, and then views of the night sky. The commercial was mostly dark blue. There wasn't a lot of other color.

Has anybody else seen it, and can anybody confirm whether it's Kobe who is actually narrating the thing? I got curious, and thought I'd ask if anybody here knew about it.

It sounds exactly like him, it has to be him. The first time I heard it was when I was on the computer and heard it on the TV in the background. I turned around and was surprised when I didn't see him but assumed it was his voice narrating.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's him. I've been looking stuff up. Kobe has definitely been involved in a big way with Make-A-Wish, but I can't find proof that it's his voice in that particular PSA.

Kobe's probably been the biggest celebrity/athlete volunteer for Make-a-Wish, so it's probably him.

He's been known to regularly meet w/ terminally ill kids and their families for deep conversations just minutes before games start.

An old article (I think it was L.A. Times magazine) mentioned that people who have witnessed it are blown away that he's able to compose himself enough to take the court, let alone dominate.

It said that he would promise to make a spectacular play (for instance a 360 dunk) for the kid and when he did the kid would know it was for him/her. (The old hit a homer for me Babe Ruth thing).
Teammates and coaches had gotten PO'd at him a couple times when he would wrecklessly attempt hard plays in a tight game, but he couldn't resist making some dying kids wish /promise come true.

I know it's a reach but I wonder if he's made promises on some of his huge scoring nights.

Yes, it's Kobe's voice..

Public Service Announcement

Three wish children who starred in the public service announcement were also on hand at today's event to present the premiere of the PSA. The PSA was created, co-written and produced by Zambezi Ink, and narrated by Kobe Bryant. During the shoot the children worked one-on-one with Bryant, an honored wish granter of the organization.

Man, I've been hearing that commercial for a while and always thought it sounded like Kobe. Especially the way he says the word "strong". Glad someone could confirm it.

That's pretty cool. I also found out that the night he scored 81 points, a kid was living out his wish with his family by going to the game as guests of Kobe, sitting in sweet seats, and getting to meet him. How awesome must that kid have felt?
