Had a trade idea I thought I would share. The breakdown:

Seattle
Ray Allen
Robert Swift
Vitaly Potapenko

for

Paul Pierce
Chris Mihm

Seattle gets financial flexability in Pierce's shorter contract and actually should be better on the floor with Mihm over Swift. They also cut costs moving Vitaly. Pierce has the skill and versatility to play SF and SG.

Boston
Paul Pierce

for

Robert Swift
Devean George
Slava Medvedenko
Aaron McKey
Miami Pick

Swift has been on Danny's radar since he came into the league. Essentually this deal is consistent with Ainge's MO. Get young, get cheap, get the guys he wants. Danny gets a pick, a young 7 footer and saves around 11 million next year {more if he can buy out McKey}. He can also give Devean minutes with Pierce's departure.

Lakers
Chris Mihm
Devean George
Slava Medvedenko
Aaron McKey
Miami Pick

For

Ray Allen
Vitaly Potapenko

As for why the Lakers do the deal; because it's a steal. So the real question is Why should Boston and Seattle bring LA into the deal?

1)In order to give up Swift Seattle should look to get a good young Center in return. Collison and Petro are already projects and Mihm would be an upgrade right now at a decent price. There aren't many tallented Centers that have good contracts who are available. One could consider Magloire but Milwaukee paid Redd the Max to take Allen's place.

2) LA has $8 Million in expiring contracts to motivate Boston financially. One even suspects that given the uncertain nature of McKey's health going into his current deal the Lakers must have negociated a buyout under his $2.76m salary for 06-07.

3) The Lakers willingness to take on $86 million in salary should not be overlooked. Allowing Boston and Seattle to gain greater financial flexability would mean LA is capped out for 5 years. Ray, though he is very good may be a little overpriced.

Thoughts?

Maybe we can add a fourth team to this and see if the Nuggets can swing a deal that would send the Mark Hurlburt to the Lakers along with Ray Allen?

I wish for nothing more than for RealGM's Trade Checker to suffer a meltdown so we can be rid of this constant nonsense.

I'm in Seattle every monday and tuesday and they are nowhere near a "Full overhaul" mindset. No way they are anywhere near shopping Ray Allen at this point. And there is MAJOR LOS ANGELES Hate in that city. No way (And they wouldn't even want a Kobe in return) do the fans of that city watch Ray Allen goto the Lakers. The state legslature just approved a measure that would basically force the taxpayers to pay for a new stadium that the voters voted down this past november, so there are already some testy public relations nightmares to deal with for the franchise. Ray Allen ends up in LA about the same time Bin Laden is being sworn in as president and George Bush starts his new post as head of the ACLU. Both of those things have a better chance of happening.....

This trade works for L.A. and Seattle but Seattle really takes it in the rear. There is no way they give up Pierce for garbage although Swift has potential.

Ray Ray actually would be a GREAT fit in the tri. He's got good enough handles to initiate. Just think of how open he would be with Kobe taking up the majority of the defense's interest.

Yeah... That would work, except you are forgetting one thing: Those teams don't just exist to help the Lakers.

Sonics would never trade Ray Allen to the Lakers without giving up Kobe.
