Not excited about it yet? Haven't heard of it? Well, watch the latest preview below and you might have to mark it on your calendar, order HBO, or change your anniversary date.

HBO Trailer

Plus, Book 5 in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Dance With Dragons, has a publication date: July 12, 2011.

If you haven't read the series and you like fantasy, you are missing out. Intense, depressing, and just totally bad ass.

I'm looking forward to this as well. I'm a fan of Sean Bean's work. I don't know what I would watch without HBO.

Definitely looking forward to the series. Read the books and think they will make excellent cinema.

What makes me think the same is that George R.R. Martin used to be a writer for TV.

I'm looking forward to this on HBO.

The last book in the series was a serious let down for me. Hopefully the next book will get back to what I enjoyed about the series.

Not familiar with the series, but the previews look good.

HBO, Starz, and Showtime have just blown away network television in terms of quality programming.

I can hardly find anything worth watching on the Big Four any more and the shows I do enjoy end up getting canceled.

My favorite characters are Tyrion, Arya and Littlefinger.

Here are the youtube links to the trailer above and some others:

"The Game Begins"

"Invitation To Westeros"

11 minute "Inside Game of Thrones"

"Iron Throne"

I liked the first three books. I honestly couldn't finish the fourth book. He just keeps introducing so bleeping many new characters! The story can be slow sometimes but the character development is absolutely amazing. So often you think someone is evil but then you start learning all these mitigating circumstances and redeeming qualities... It gets very deep.

My dad didn't like the fourth book that much either. He said the plot doesn't focus enough on the characters he cares about (no Jon Snow, for example). I took it for what it is: 1/2 of a book. The second half comes out this year.

Should I read the books before I see the show? I've got HBO.

I have the first two books in hardcover but never got to it all these years (and I'm a sci-fi and fantasy book fan).

I'm going to re-read the books before the show airs... if that gives you guidance.

First 14 minutes of episode 1. Looks like HBO hit a homerun with this!

I feel like it's the premiere of a Harry Potter or Star Wars and I'm waiting in line to see if I could get in... I'm pretty damn excited for this show and that 14-minute preview made me almost rabid.

I just saw the "Making Of" on HBO which will help me out a lot since I didn't read the books. They went over the various characters and who is related to who.

This is looking to be a very awesome series.

Great first episode. Really loved every minute of it.

Strong writing is what I most care about but they also nailed it with the casting. Dead on with Tyrion(obviously!), Daenerys, and Arya.

Lots of boobies and banging as expected. The Tyrion whorehouse scene was hilarious.

A few additions/subtractions from the book but nothing major. The "bedding" scene with Drogo and Dany was different. She was scared but much more willing in the book (she taught him the word "YES" ) whereas in episode 1 it made it look like she was forced.

I thought they did a great job of showing each characters situation/motivation without too much dialogue- at least for the observant. It may require a rewatch for people new to the series (just as the books require a reread) but the payoff is definitely worth it.

Yes, her twin brother.
