I think this was the reason Lakers lost, and I don't agree with Phil Jackson bringing in Cook to defend Gasol...that's a big mistake. I totally blame Phil's coaching on this one.

My problem is not having the ball in Kobe's hands on the last 2 possessions. These scrubs think they're stars now. Especially Cook...

You do realize, Kobe passed it to them right? It wasn't like he never touched it. He was the one who passed it off to them giving them the opportunity to succeed or fail. They'll never learn if Kobe has to keep bailing them out.

Actually, Gasol was taking it to Kwame and we weren't getting any stops prior to his fouling out. Kwame was just able to get a little back on the other end in crunch time, which made it seem not as bad. But our D couldn't hold the line with or without him down the stretch.

Gasol had a monster night.

31 pts 12 rebs 7 ast on 11-15 shooting... nobody was stopping him tonight.

Kwame did better than Cook, he was the only one taking him out of the paint, but the result was a fouled out. Bynum should have taked over instead of Cook. Cook is just a terrible defender.

I think Mihm did a fantastic job in his last 2 games vs. Gasol. Gasol was hot tonight, and Kwame was giving up easy looks off the ball. Seriously, we had no one to defend Gasol on the last play. I would've even throw Lamar at him, but a player as slow as Cook?

Yeah the Cook matchup on Gasol on that and-1 possession was bad.

Kwame had a good all around game. Excellent on offense and active on the oboards. He was ok on defense but should've contested a few more Gasol shots. Gasol got off early and kept it rolling all game long.

Kobe gave Cook the wide open shot. Cook missed. Big deal.

All of you are missing the boat. It sucks to lose, but Gasol showed up big, first stopping Lamar's drive, then scoring on the next play. Kobe sealed the loss with a near air ball.

Ugly.

But plenty of blame to go around.

We were lucky to be in the game as bad as Kobe was shooting all night.

If Odom had brought his balls (hasn't had them in well over a month), game would have been won. Kobe can't score 36 every night. Unfortunately future All Star, excellent 3-point shooting, solid defending Lamar Odom didn't come through. Again. Shocking.

The Grizzlies forced the ball out of Kobe's hands with a double when he made that pass to Cook. I'm pretty sure he would have rather run clock. It wasn't a terrible shot by Cook, just bad timing unless he made it. Unfortunately he choked bad.

Please tell me you're kidding.

When Kwame went out Gasol had something like 27pts, 10reb, 7ast.

Kwame wasn't exactly stopping the guy

Good game by Kwame (obviously) on offense, but he's had far better outtings defensively.

It was a clean look. He rushed it, he missed it. Hindsight we should've used more clock. Young team, young mistakes, again.

Kwame was a Gasol stopper in the sense that Smush was a Chucky stopper.

Exactly.

Kwame is going to have problems with these quicker PF's it's as simple as that. He is useful with the Curry's, Snaqs, and Mings of the league. At least he took it right back to Gasol.

I actually think out of all the players that guarded Gasol, Bynum actually did a pretty good job. What do you guys think?

It was over once Kwame fouled out and Cook was substituted in. Cook putting out a red carpet to Gasol for and-1 and clanking a wide-open jumper with 14secs left on the shot clock. Ouch.

It's not as if Kwame did anywhere near good job on Gasol but at least Kwame stayed infront of him and made him work on the other end.

Kwame did a good job in the game. When guarding a 7 foot PF, it helps to have a 7 footer, who can move. Cook is too short to guard Gasol.

I agree, his length gave Gasol some problems. When Gasol tried to step back Drew challenged the shots. Kwame did too on occassion. Gotta give it to the Spaniard tonight though, he came out and played a great game and was on fire from the get go.

Andrew looked good against Gasol. He was long enough to really contest the jump shot without overcommitting and allowing Gasol to get the weak foul call (which seemed to happen all night against other guys for little touch fouls).
