Is Ray Allen on the Market??

Would they consider Lamar Odom?

Would the Lakers consider this? A great shooter......

I don't know it could be interesting, Ray Allen's name is getting mentioned as of late.

Too old, too long of a contract (5 year for $85mil)

Allen would be nice though.

Ray Allen was a player Phil mentioned as a player of interest when Allen was a free agent.

I prefer Rashard Lewis + Potapenko(expiring K) + Mikke Moore for Lamar, Walton and Miami Pick.

so you guys would seriously consider not trading odom for ray allen? What do you want for odom then? A superstar in ray allen isnt good enough anymore but a scrub like odom should stay on the team?

People would jump all over this if it were KG whom is 30 and has more mileage on the tires than Ray, but they pass on Ray who is a jumshooter?

I think Ray at the guard and kobe at the SF would be an interesting pair, at least we would have someone who can hit an outside shot when kobe drives to the hoop, of course we'd be getting even thinner up front, and while I am not sold on LO as our PF long term he is our best PF at this time

Seattle wouldn't want Odom if they still had Lewis. Maybe Odom for Lewis might interest them...

Too old and let's be real. Can we really take having another player who not only can't defend anyone to save his life, but who doesn't even bother to try? And is that player really worth the 85 million he's owed?

I don't think having an aging Ray Allen on the squad is the best way to get to a title. I, personally, don't think any team can win a championship with Ray no-defense Allen as a core piece. A role player? Yes, but a core piece - NO.

I wonder if the Hawks would consider a deal for LO, for Al and one of the Josh's, not sure if they would go for that or if the salaries work, but the Hawks have some decent looking young players, and with Al expiring you never know, he get's a couple less boards than LO but scores more, and even if he doesn't work out and expires or whatever, more money off the books or useful in a potential trade, I think there are some teams down on the food chain that have some decent young talent

Ray Allen would be a GREAT fit in the tri. He has good handles and could easily initiate (would do a better job than Lamar in that respect). He would be deadly on the perimeter with Kobe taking up so much of the defenses attention.

Absolutely NO WAY Seattle would trade Ray Allen to LA. The KG pipedreams are more realistic than this one. First, Allen isn't on the trading bloc. Second, scratch your heads and try to remember the last time Seattle traded with LA. There is a good reason for the answer.....

I like Allen but ... you absolutely cannot do this trade unless another deal is in the works to return some size and rebounding. If you think you can live with nothing but perimeter players ... even including Kobe ... just take a look at the Nets. They have a threesome that is second to none and what's their record? A whopping 27-22. Dumars was right when he said you cannot have enough "bigs" in the NBA. Whether you like Odom or not, he is at least a longer body than most AND a rebounder. If you think a lineup of ...

Smush
Allen
Kobe
Brown/Cook
Mihm

is going to put fear in the hearts of the Spurs ... think again.

True, you need size. To think that Odom puts fear in anyones eyes is hilarious, though I do see your point.

Yep, I won't move LO unless it's 1.) for a perimeter guy who is of star
calibur and doesn't kill our cap-space, or 2.) if it's for a star quality big
man.

Only for a big would I take on a contract like that.

can't be leaving the Lakers too thin up front. New Jersey probably has the best 1,2,3 combo in the league, but no one serious considers them a contender.

Nobody, but nobody wins titles without at least one AllStar quality big who's at least as good as Horace Grant was back in 91-94. Grant wasn't a big scorer, but he didn't have to be. His best attribute was that he was a TWO-way player on the front line. Something the Lakers don't have now.
