sometimes... especially on D, but the dude needs to start. He just spreads the court with his jumper. He is the only guy on this team (other than Kobe) who can consistently make Js... I just want to see him be more aggressive on the defensive end. No more flopping and only taking charges (except when it's the only option). I want him to move his feet and jump...

I couldn't care less about the "..."

He made the title tell us what the thread is about.

Cool by me.

It's only a pain when someone's title is "I think that..."

or that kinda thing. Then it's uncool cuz ya have no clue what it's about.

I want to see him follow his shots. I want to see him go after boards on the defensive end. Last few games, he's done the defensive board side well (at least attempting to grab some), but offensively, he never follows his shot. That bothers me a lot. He's backing away from it. It's one thing to stay put, but to back away from it is a bit much.

What?? The title is completely misleading. I hate Cook's game... sometimes?

Then he goes on praising Cook. Why not just name the thread, "My thoughts on Brian Cook".

I think Cook should stick to his strengths right now. I'd rather him take a couple charges than committing bad shooting fouls. He does contest shots, he just can't elevate enough to alter them. Coaches have an age old saying, "You take what you can get", that's exactly what Phil's trying to do with this team. He knows what kind of player Cook, Walton, George, Sasha, etc. is and isntead of having them change their game up, he's trying to utitlize their strengths. That's why you see the same thing from these guys every time their on the court.

Cook's only a good shooter. Too bad we can mold him and Kwame together.

lol ok fair enough, it's not perfectly titled.

But ya know it's about the guy's opinion on Brian Cook.

That says alot more than threads like "I think......"

Or "Has anyone noticed......"

etc.

Oh, those sop jumpers he hits for a couple games with no pressure defense, before he disappears again. The shots he will never see in a playoff game or against quality defenses, rendering him useless when he is actually needed.

Cook is shooting 52% from the field and 50% from 3 this season.

I think he should be a starter when Mihm returns. That would give the team 2 players who could provide 10+ points on 50+% shooting for when Kobe gets doubled.

... Cook's Game...?

Im not liking this non-attacking offense at times, it's like they really work for a 3ptr or off balance jumper...

talk about not liking someone's offensive game ... KB

I agree with most of that. But I think there is only so much this guy can do. He isn't the most physically gifted player. He is doing the best he can with what God gave him. Of course, as mentioned, he could always improve on the defensive end.

Again, its a shame we couldn't slide him to small forward. Could he be any worse on D than Chuck Person or Glen Rice? Not that thats reassuring or anything...

He'll probably never make me forget we passed on Josh Howard to draft him, but Cook has shown good progress in his three years as a Laker. He's our most reliable outside shooter, a decent rebounder and a better finisher around the rim than the more athletically-gifted Kwame.

Last season Cook would just plant himself on the 3-point line and wouldn't move even if the defender was running at him. This season, you see him letting the defender fly by as he steps in to take the shot.

You also see him shooting less treys and more shots from 15-20 feet which accounts for his much-improved shooting percentage (52%) this season. Last season he had 199 3-point attempts which is a shocking statistic considering he only avg. 15 min/gm. We're 51 games into the season and he's only attempted 31 treys (making over 48% of them).

I don't know if anybody has taken it seriously, but Cook has put the ball on the floor a few times and, beat his man off the dribble all the way to the hole. Cook is fooling people into thinking that his game is one dimensional. That move to the hoop against Memet although a turtle could beat Memet to the hole wasn't half bad. The thing that is especially worth rewarding on that move and, finish was that Cook was able to get in there before that damned Ak47 could close and, erase the (bleep)! Ak47 is without a doubt the scariest man in the league in that dept.
