I like the guy. When he first came in, and was lined up for a free throw, I yelled ROOOONNNNNYYYYY and he turned around and winked at me. It was cool. (I was on the court, so he actually heard me )

And then he missed them both! You distracted him!

I missed the game today, what type of reception did he get when he first entered the game? I was hoping for a standing ovation.

talk about hype

Sarcasm I hope.

The guy is playing his first real minutes in the league. He's a rookie. He's a second round pick. He has a lot of energy. He's said to be a banger and likes to go after boards.

And oh yeah, he's coming back from open-heart surgery in less than a year.

Let's give him some time to develop before we do the

i know what he is coming from, still doesn't mean we hype him up and start putting expectations that shouldn't be put on him.

so no it wasn't hype at all. wow he is a second round pick.. so what. von is a second round pick, and if people started hyping him up i would say the same thing.

i root for him, but i won't hype him up, cuz sooner or later these very same posters are going to tear him down

What is wrong with being a fan and getting exciited about Ronny playing after all this.

You can call it hype. I call it being a fan.

Maybe aren't fan, or just don't know what one is.

i'm not the one to put exptations on a player, then next year, when he doesn't reach those goals i set for him; i bash him.

its just like what has happened to sasha, in the begining of last year.

i am a fan, and i know what one is, but that doesn't make me look at things blindly. i'm still a fan regardless.

So yes, i know what being a fan is.

I was at the Memphis game on Saturday. He didn't play, but before the game, during warmups, he was working with Kwame on post-up moves. Kwame on offense, Ronny on defense. I thought it comical at the time how after every move, they would stop so Ronny could show Kwame what he did wrong and how to do it right. Then Kwame gets 18 and 8, and I started trying to sync up Kwame's recent uptick in performance with Ronny's arrival. Maybe it wasn't just Phil getting on his back, but also having an appointed defender to work out with, who knows what he's supposed to be doing.

Good! Rony is Kwame's biggest supporter. That's something every player needs.

By the way does anyone else notice that Rony is overweight? Over the summer the guy was in really good shape. He looks really out shape right now. I understand he just got out of surgery, I was just curious if anyone else noticed?

^Well, he lost 40lbs. Only a matter of time before he'd regain it back.

The difference? Couldn't work-out recovering from the heart condition.

Ronny is what the scrubs should to emulate, the heart and passion for basketball.

I wasn't at the game. But, from what I saw on TV, he received his loudest ovation, which wasn't even that loud, when he went to shoot free throws. IT was what I'd call a "warm" ovation.

They originally subbed him in after a timeout, so the crowd probably didn't get a chance to really give a loud ovation.

I don't think we should hype him up like others said because all we do is set ourselves up for disappointment but did anyone else notice whenever he ran the offense thru the lane he had his hands us ready for the ball just incase someone decided to pass it to him? Fundamentals. I like it. I think he can really help this team next season once he gets a little pt this season and a full offseason.

I don't think anyone is "hype-ing" anything.

I think Lakers fans are excited about the possiblities that Ronny presents.

These kind of things happen among fans.

It shouldn't be a surprise.

It's one of the reasons being a fan is enjoyable.

I hate the majority of the fans at Staples. They have no love or passion for their team. I guess some of the players decided to take on the personalities of the fans.
