OK, finally figured out the menu to make for the wife for Valentine's Day tomorrow:

Arugula, Chicken and Strawberry Salad with Balsamic Brown Sugar Vinaigrette and Toasted Pecans.

Lobster Tails Thermidor.

Roasted, Chocolate-stuffed Strawberries.

With much thanks to Emeril Lagasse (salad and entree) and Rachael Ray (even though my wife can't stand her) for the recipe ideas.

Damn! I usually just use a little whipped cream and strawberries!

Speaking of whipped cream and strawberries, try this out... whip your own heavy cream (it's not hard, just 5 minutes of work), and when it just begins to thicken, instead of adding sugar, add an equivalent amount of strawberry Quik before finishing the whipping. It's very tasty.

I don't have a specific Valentine's Day dinner planned. Last night I braised a rabbit with portabello mushrooms and shallots in wine sauce. Turned out not unlike the chicken marsala they serve at Macaroni Grill if you can believe it. Only I didn't throw in whole garlic cloves, and I used a dry white wine instead of marsala.

Waste not want not... saved the rabbit carcass and boiled it overnight with onions and carrots (I usually add fennel too when doing duck, but I didn't have any on hand). Now I have a dutch oven full of rabbit soup. Looking forward to trying it out, after an hour more boiling with a cup of brown rice thrown in.

If you use pliers to pluck your butt hairs instead of tweezers, does it make you more prone to hemmorhoids? I was thinking that there might be a greater chance of skin irritation because of the raw metal as opposed to the stainless steel in the tweezers. I'm too lazy to go buy new tweezers so I think I'll chance it. Maybe a healthy coating of Prep H just to be on the safe side....

Fried potatoes, tofu, cereal, OJ . . . and that's just breakfast.
Tofu huh?

Not really man. I don't like it in anything but the Chinese hot and sour soup. mmm mmm delicious.

Extra firm tofu, lightly fried, seasoned with Lawrey's seasoning and tumeric. Nice unique flavor . . . although I agree that tofu is an aquired taste and requires proper seasoning.

Lunch shall be burritos . . . washed down with Verner's ginger ale.

The largest body of fresh water in the world is Lake Superior.

Area wise, but I think volume wise it's lake Baikal. Yep it is. It contains 20% of Earth's fresh water.

I stand corrected. Dang that lake is deep!

In the Roman alphabet, serifs originated with the carving of words into stone in ancient Italy. Artisans would carve out a bit of extra space at the end of the long strokes of letters to prevent gravel and dust from collecting in the corners of the letters.

My phones charger so abused that I have to duct tape my phone to it just to get it to charge.

The good news is my service contract ends in about a month and I'll be a free agent.

Of course, if you try to switch to a provider that sponsors the team, you probably won't move until the off-season.

What would be really cool would be if we could select different fonts for our posts. Then we could choose between serif and san serif fonts i.e., franklin gotic vs. goudy old style. Then maybe Mitch would take us more seriously.
