Jackson, on next Thursday's trade deadline: "We know that we've got inexperience at the guard corps. Sasha [Vujacic] and Smush [Parker] are young players with very little experience that played well for us this year. We'd like to have a situation where we can help ourselves with depth."

Put that Mitch quote out there, too:

Quote:
"Due to our age, probably a veteran player, who could help us in terms of taking some of the scoring load, making defensive plays — big defensive plays," Mitch said. "I would think a backcourt player."

Of course, they are looking to make a trade. They want another backcourt player. Maybe they bring in something else, too, but the Lakers are definitely busy this trade deadline.

Agreed. I'd love to have any one of these guys. Melvin Ely too for a post scoring role player who can catch Lamar and Kobe's passes and convert 'em.

I like all, but Brevin doesn't really fit. He's a penetrate and dish kinda guard, who is a great steals guy. He can't shoot, won't need to dribble much in the triangle, and gets hammerd on D cuz he's small. I dig him as a player, but there's a reason he's a journeyman.

He's a small SG, and he isn't "experienced" like Phil wants.

Anybody know what's wrong with Lindsey Hunter? I haven't seen him play all season for Detroit. What is his injury?

He's one player that would help BIG TIME off the bench with his defense, and Triangle experience.

I assume that what they're shopping is Slava's expiring deal, so it needs to be someone who makes around 3 mi, names that pop on my mind:

Mike JAmes (difficult)
David Wesley
Damon Jones (nasty K)
Fish? (include McKie)

Or maybe McKie comes back? We dont seem to have many options.

I think the more likely guy would be DA.

Not something I want to happen, but I see it kind of like this...

Watson - Many of us liked him on here in the offseason, but Denver
scooped him with designs on then trading him - but they overpaid him and
now I'd rather not take on his contract unless other players were involved.

Likelihood:

Jaric - Many of us liked him as well in the offseason, but he's
signed past 2007. Not substantially overpriced like Watson, but the
Laker braintrust showed zilch on the interest-meter during the offseason.
What's the likelihood that our interest has peaked when, since our lack
thereof, his performance is subpar compared to last year. Wolves are
looking to shake things up ASAP though.

Likelihood:

Anderson - I was ok with our interest in him during the offseason
because it was on the cheap and there was next-to-nothing left to fill
our void at PG. The Lakers supposedly offered him a contract, which he
was considering before spurning Laker management and going to Houston,
saying essentially that he could win games in Houston, but not in LA.
Aside from my personal dislike for how he treated that situation, we
liked him enough to offer him a contract then, and he's signed for the
same price we'd offered.

Likelihood:

(note: this banana does not represent my feelings on this possibility)

Offseason Options - Two solid potential additions at the point will
be available (more actually, but two that seem like possible targets) in
Mike James and Jason Terry. Both I believe would be solid
fits for us, and either would be a nice pickup if they could be convinced to
play for an MLE contract. That said, Bosh has said publicly that he wants
Mike James back on the roster next year, and Toronto sweats bullets over
the prospect of Bosh leaving. Jason Terry, as I understand it, is restricted
come summer-time, which means Cuban would either have to fail to
match our MLE-offer to him or S&T him our way. Neither sounds likely
to me.

Likelihood:

Knight: - Bad fit, not likely a move ok'd by Phil either.

D-Fish: - Experienced, but overpriced.

Gordon: - I love the guy, moderate fit, some tri experience, but he's
Chicago's Valentine in alot of ways - likely takes more to get him than
it would be worth.

Mo Williams: I like the guy, not a bad fit. Not "experienced" as the
hints indicate our interest requires, and who do we have that the Bucks
likely want?

Penny:

(edited to put bananas in their proper place, slippery little bastards)

From what's been said here on LG, it's Slava, DG and picks.

Lakers could probably get Ben gordan. But they would probably have to give up Chris mihm to get him. Bulls are lacking a center. Probably would have to throw in a 1# pick also.

Although I recognize that Brevin Knight is great, I love Mo Williams more for THIS team. More range on offense. Not as excellent a passer, but still decent. GREAT player for the Lakers.

You have something against Mihm? No one in their right mind would trade a decent 7 footer who's reasonably priced for a guard, and we have to throw in a pick on top? The way Kwame's been playing you really want him to be your starting C?

Dock-

you have a point when it comes to my other trade suggestion for Chris Mihm. I admit the Turkolo Dooling trade was bad.

Ben gordan is another story. If you have a chance to get Gordan for Mihm, thats a steal. Gordan has 3 cheap yrs left on his rookie contract. Potential star. Averaging 16 points per game. Potential 20 point scorer.

Gordan has breakout 30 points games. 35 point games. Dude is explosive.Lamar kobe and gordan would be a nice trio. I think Kwame can be a defensive center.
