I don't have access to it, I just saw the headline on the front page. So if someone with access can post its contents, that would be great.

Here it is:

Phil Wants Backcourt Help
Feb 15 - Phil Jackson doesn't rule out the possibility of the Lakers making a trade for a guard with more experience, reports the Orange County Register. "We know that we've got inexperience in the backcourt," Jackson told the newspaper. "Sasha (Vujacic) and Smush Parker are young players that have played well for us this year. We'd like to have a situation where we could help ourselves in depth."

It's a rumor started by the New York Post claiming the Lakers offered Odom and Devean George for Channing Frye and Penny Hardaway, but that Isaiah was holding out for Bynum. Never mind that the Lakers would essentially be trading Odom for a player in Frye who scores less, grabs a little over 1/2 the rebounds, 1/6th of the assists, blocks less shots and his a bad defender. I guess fans are gullible enough to the believe that Phil and Kobe would prefer cap relief over actual help or improvement. Plus, there's the whole issue of the Knicks spreading these kinds of nonsensical rumors through media literally every trading season, so as to make fans think they're hanging tough and trying to acquire every player on the planet.

The lack of logic nothwithstanding, the rumor has been denied by both the Lakers and the Knicks, who confirm that the Lakers never offered Odom for anything on New York's roster. It won't stop the bashers from using the rumor as some sort of "fact" that every team in the league hates Lamar Odom. Still, it is what it is...

It was already discussed and the consensus was that Isiah was leaking a false rumor to try and raise Frye's stock.

I wouldnt mind L.O but we cant trade a bloated overpaid contract player for two worse players, with longer contracts, im assuming were refering to getting Q or crawford.

The New York Post thinks everybody wants to come play for the Knicks.

They have had every player on every roster in the NBA going to play for them at some point this year.

All the deals involve taking Knick trash in exchange for good players or top prospects. Now that I think of it, kind of sounds like LakersGround.

.... and what it is, is a rumor from the New York Post. Enough said. Only a Knicks fan would see the logic in trading Odom for Penny and Frye.

Chicagoans at least have pizza AND the white sox to help their basketball depression.

Even the pizza's overrated. Give me Chicago pizza any day over NY pizza.

Absolutely,

The only thing that's not overrated in New York is its ego! (By the way, I'm eating some Giordano's I brought back from Chi-Town this weekend. Would have made an excellent addition to the PDTP thread!)

Here is what is says word for word on espn insider:

Lakers, Wolves In the Mix For Penny?
Feb 14 - The New York Post reported Sunday that Denver, Orlando, Portland and Seattle were interested in trading for Penny Hardway and his $15.7 million expiring contract. On Monday a league executive who spoke with Isiah Thomas told the newspaper that a fifth team is slowly emerging and could be the Timberwolves or Lakers. According to the newspaper, the Knicks and Lakers were discussing a deal of Hardaway for Lamar Odom, but the Lakers wanted Channing Frye and the Knicks rejected it. Reportedly, Thomas would have gone for it had the Lakers added rookie center Andrew Bynum.
In related news ...

Isiah Thomas is willing to take on Kenyon Martin, but not if it means giving up Channing Frye, reports the New York Daily News. A league source told the newspaper that the Knicks have offered Penny Hardaway to Denver, but won't trade Frye.

The New York Daily News also reports that Denver is working on several deals, including a trade for Orlando's Steve Francis. In order to get Francis, the Nuggets want to rid themselves of Martin's contract.

According to Newsday, the Knicks are still trying to find a way to get point guard Earl Watson from the Nuggets.

Here is what is says word for word on espn insider.

Here's a question...what about May and Felton in Charlotte??? Odom and George for May, Felton, and a pick or cash??? Might be a bit big and obscure but heck....maybe May is a little better than Frye...maybe not...never hurts to try there if Frye can't be moved....
