Amazingly, the Sentinel just can't seem to help themselves. After the Shaq poll that helped him ease his way out of town in '96, you'd think they wouldn't go down this road.
Right now, "Yes" (trade Dwight + Gil for Pau, LO and Blake) is winning.
I'm sure Dwight will be thrilled when he hears about it, and you better believe he will hear about it, as this will become a news story.
Not sure how much of that vote is Laker fans and how much is Orlando fans who are resigned to him leaving and want to get the best package back. (I actually do think a Laker package is the best outcome for Orlando- much better than losing him for nothing.)
But this is certainly one more thing that will give Dwight some cover (and that his people will cite to reporters) if he decides to leave.
The Sentinel will be a very convenient fall guy. Again.

The point isn't whether the Lakers would make that particular trade.
It's that the Sentinel has run a "Should the Magic Trade Dwight to the Lakers ?" poll and "Yes" is winning.
What matters is that it's one more thing for Dwight to not be happy about, but worse than what the columnists have been writing because it's the fans saying to go ahead and trade him.
Just like in '96. |

The Lakers would be getting robbed in that trade even if they replace Pau with Andrew. _________________ Laker haters get quiet when I come around. |

It is very telling that an Orlando news paper would ask such a poll. I dont necessarily like the trade but again, very telling. |

No.
We would be left with Bynum AND Howard. How is that going to work?
Plus, Arenas' bloated contract would really mess things up, cap wise. |

Orlando has got to have some of the dumbest sports journalists ever. Didn't they learn their lesson with Snaq? Somebody send this to Dwight's twitter account ASAP. I don't care who they put in that trade, it's the fact that they would even consider trading him at all that's the point! |

There is NO scenario in which the Lakers will agree to take on Arenas' horrible contract ... let alone while also giving up 2 of our top 3 big men.
That's not happening. |

Yeah, it's just that pesky PF position that's filled with our 7-foot all-star and the 6th man of the year that we would have to consider making up for. |

I don't think LA would look to out Dwight and Bynum together. Neither guy is comfortable very far from the basket, and they'd have to compete for touches, diminishing the value of one or both. On defense, however... _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

You minions need to get it thru your heads that no way will the FO will trade Gasol over Bynum. Ask kobe who had rather trade. The only guy in the organization that would rather keep bynum is Jim and thats it. |

I don't think that's necessarily true. I think both are on the table for a Dwight, CP3, or Dwill type player. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

you can trade bynum afterwards for a solid point guard and a good power forward. |
