Is anyone else watching this new series on Showtime?
It's pretty good. I've seen the first few episodes, and it's getting better and better. It's a CIA/War on Terror show. Starting Claire Danes, whom I hate, but she's actually convincing in this.
(I couldn't find a thread for this. If there is one, I apologize) _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

I think with Breaking Bad off the air, this is probably the best drama on TV currently on air. Gets better each week and the two leads (especially Damian Lewis) are terrific. I urge everyone to check it out. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Yep. Claire Daines seems to really own her character. "Carrie" is friggin mess. Mandy Patinkin is his normal superb self. But, Damain Lewis is awsome as Sergeant Brody. |

I agree.
I love the fact that multiple characters on the show have acknowledged her hotness (Virgil's brother, and that teen that smokes pot with Brody's daughter who called her a MILF). It certainly helps that she's been naked or almost naked in every damn episode thus far. Meanwhile, Claire Danes refuses to get naked even after a number of sex scees, which is something Bill Simmons (yes, that Bill Simmons) pointed out in a review of one of the episodes on a blog.
The last episode was fantastic, though I don't buy that Brody was definitely not turned. He may still be playing the long con, while Walker is playing a shorter game.
I love how they wrote the polygraph angle around Saul. They wanted the audience to think that Saul was hiding something, but he didn't. But just for a second, his behavior was strange.
Damian Lewis is doing a nice job with those Arabic prayers. As someone with a Muslim background, I know these basic prayers, and he sounds really authentic when he prays, which is not easy. The prayer beads thing makes sense, and fingers are used as a substitute all the time.
The series was renewed for a second season already. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

Breaking Bad wrapped up its 4th season a few weeks ago. The show's creators announced that the next season will be the last. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

A couple of friends have told me about this show. I don't have time to watch too many shows - only really following one right now (House) but I think with the NBA lockout dragging I may get into a few shows... this can be one of them. |

I've been meaning to catch up on this series since I started working on Howard Gordon's new series, but I've been so busy doing that and keeping up with my current favorites I neglected Homeland.
However, I finally just literally just finished watcing the Pilot. And while I am glad I did, I am mad at myself that I waited this long to finally start watching.
It's riveting. I'm so engrossed that I had to remind myself that I can't stay up all night watching the rest of the episodes because my daughter has a huge swim meet in the morning. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

It only gets better after the Pilot. Make sure not to read what I wrote above, since I have a few spoilers. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

Okay I saw 2 episodes last night.
Good show, has a nice plot.
Although I've only seen 2 episodes so I could be way off right now and didn't read through the spoilers in this thread, I feel a little sympathy for the Brody character. While it is likely that he's turned, there's obviously some dilemma there whether he should do it or what the next step could be. I hope they don't make this about Islam creating terrorists as I'd lose respect for the show. Him praying towards the end of ep #2 was surprising but it shouldn't make viewers think that he is any more terrorist because of that.
I'll try to catch up over the next few days, am 5 episodes behind now.
And Brody's wife is pretty hot for a "MILF" |

Spoiler: I knew Brody wasn't clean. The premise of the show wouldn't be interesting if he wasn't a mole.
This show makes the CIA really look really incompetent. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

I think it's safe to have spoilers in this thread. We're talking about an episode that has already aired, as opposed to predicting what will happen in future episodes.
I don't think the last scene was that clear. It could be interpreted all kinds of ways. We know Brody has a relationship with Nazir. We know he likes him. But it doesn't mean that he's a terrorist. I think he was just pissed that they lied to him about Walker. He's just very lost now. Everybody has betrayed him. His country, his wife, his new friends from Iraq. As opposed to be being turned already, he might be turned down the line.
That last scene has caused a lot of speculation on the boards, I've noticed. But it's precisely because it's not very clear at all.
In the real world, the fact that Walker has become a terrorist would be a huge liability for Brody. I think a lot of people would reasonably ask: how do we know Brody is not a terrorist too? That's why I think there will be some kind of showdown between Walker and Brody down the line where Brody will kill him, will prove to everyone that he's a hero. At the same time, he could still be a mole. And that provides material for the next season. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

The Mole is someone in the CIA and Brody is NOT in the CIA, Saul could be the Mole..
The Terrorists could have multiple missions, Walker and Brody could be on different paths..

Walker is probably a short-term plan. It could be that Nazir plans for Brody to actually get elected for office. Now that would open up all kinds of possibilities for this series to go. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

That was pretty much revealed in the promo for next week.
Not really needed though. Our current members of congress are already doing a fine job of sabotaging this country. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |
