When we did the luxury tax waive of Brian Grant's contract did we also waive the right to trade his contract? So in the last year of his deal, does his contract become very valuable ala Penny Hardaway?

Essentially by "amnesty waiving" him, we lose the player, pay the contract,
but are not liable for any luxury tax it would have otherwise stuck us with.

We cannot trade it.

We pay the bulk of the contract, but a portion (small comparatively) of his
salary is paid by the team who signed him (Suns) based on a formula that
relates his original contract value to his new contract.

Thanks Soda.

Looks like we got screwed in that deal pretty bad. I mean why not keep the contract then we have a expiring contract to deal next year. And if we did not extend Kwame we would have over 20+ million in expiring deals next year.

It was all about saving the money from luxury tax for Buss.
