First of all let me say winning if the most important thing but this win will hurt us more than help us in the long run. Mitch is probably watching this game and saying "we don't need no stinkin' trades." And how bout Odom!! His next game after the trading deadline comes to pass he will probably have 5 points and 5 boards!! Hopefully I'm wrong.

Or think of it the other way around... maybe this was a way to showcase Odom?

we didnt really play that good imo. If Mitch is a smart man, hed see that too. Portland played really bad..missed tons of layups and free throws. We deserved to win by default.

If Mitch think this current team is gonna get to playoffs, he needs to be fired now.

Oh come on..

We need every win we can get at this point.

And Jack Haley just said.. he was talking with Laker management and they said they are taking calls for whatever will help the team.
They know what they have in Odom, this game won't change their minds.
Let's just be happy with this win and see what happens in the next couple of days.

or, lets just take this as the first game after the all-star break and a win. they probably only need about 18 more wins to make the playoffs. take it for what it is...

i think your right in saying Mitch probably watched this game in detail considering trading for a veteran guard, but no one wants Slava's expiring contract. I think we are trying to trade Luke Walton and Slava for a veteran guard, maybe Wafer or Green, but I doubt George...unless its for a legit swingman who can shoot and defend and rebound...

It's a win.

It's not gonna hurt us.

Would you rather that we lost?

I don't think the Laker Management would base their decision to trade based on this game.

You think George who is red hot should be traded as well. The only force we have off of the bench and, just like that get rid of him?

A loss would NOT have made a difference because the Lakers are content with being .500 this season and next season. Unfortunate for Laker fans, Jerry Buss is willing to be content in order to avoid luxury tax dollars.

At this point, the Lakers are not going to get anyone better than Odom because his value is so low right now. Paul Pierce is 30, I believe, and on his way down the tail end of his career. Steve not-so-much Franchise is definitely not a good fit because his contract is worse than Odom's contract and he would never give up the ball. Artest was the only player available that was worth giving up on Odom, however, they missed that boat and it has sailed.

At this point, the Lakers are dead set on waiting for Bynum. Perhaps it's to save face since they were the only team who thought Bynum was a top ten draft pick or even a 1st round pick.

The outcome of the next 110 regular season games are not going to affect the Lakers decision to make any trades. Jerry Buss is set on saving money until Grant's contract comes off the books. It is what it is?

Just imagine how frustrated Kobe must be, if you're already frustrated.

Mike Bresnahan, in his wrap-up wrote this...

But the Lakers will take it, moving a game over .500 always being preferable to the alternative.
And it's hard to argue with that!
