PostPosted: Sat Feb 25, 2006 11:17 am    Post subject: Predict the final standings for the West Conf.

Current standings:
1) Dallas 43-11
2) Suns 36-17
3) Nuggets 30-26
4) Spurs 42-12
5) Clippers 31-23
6) Grizzlies 30-25
7) Hornets 29-25
8) Lakers 28-27
-------------------
9) Jazz 26-28
10) Kings 25-30
11) Warriors 24-30
12) Rockets 24-31

My predictions:
1) Dallas 63-19
2) Suns 56-26
3) Nuggets 44-38
4) Spurs 62-20
5) Clippers 49-33
6) Grizzlies 46-36
7) Lakers 45-37
8) Hornets 42-42

I think that the Mavs keep the 1 seed and play the Hornets. The Lakers might be able to pass the Grizz to play the Nuggets, but I'm not too sure if Memphis will play too much worse. Clippers should keep winning with their favorable home schedule, as should the Lakers. I have the Rockets ending 1 game below .500, but not quite making it, and Sacramento will be right with Houston and Hornets battling for the 8 seed, but coming up short.

What are your predictions???

45 wins is optimistic after seeing last night's debacle.

Just replace LA with Utah. People seem to forget how good that Utah team was last season before injuries hit them.

I expect us to finish the season with a 40 and 42 record.

If we can win the next 4 very winnable games we'll make playoffs. If we go 2-2 or worse we can kiss post season goodbye

It all comes down to consistancy and the games in bold - based on this years performance.. should be something like:

02/25/06 28-27

FEB
26 Boston - W 29-27
28 Orlando - W 30-27

MAR
01 @ Portland - L (back to back) 30-28
03 @ Golden State = W 31-28
04 Detroit = L 31-29
06 San Antonio = L 31-30
08 @ NO/Okla. City = W 32-30
10 @ San Antonio = L 32-31

12 Seattle = W 33-31
14 @ Sacramento = L 33-32
15 Minnesota = L (back to back, Big Ticket) 33-33
17 @ New Jersey = L 33-34
19 @ Cleveland = big W 34-34
20 @ Boston = L (back to back and off a big win) 34-35

22 Sacramento = W (payback) 35-35
24 Milwaukee = W 36-35
26 NO/Okla. City = W 37-35
30 San Antonio = L 37-36
31 @ Seattle = L (back to back) 37-37

APR
02 Houston = W 38-37
06 @ Denver = L 38-38
07 @ Phoenix = L (back to back, Amare) 38-39
09 L.A. Clippers = W (payback) 39-39
11 Golden State = W (pushing for spot) 40-39
14 Portland = W (see above) 41-39
16 Phoenix = W (may not matter to them at that point) 42-39

19 NO/Okla. City = W 43-39

43-39 record should be able to secure at least the #8 spot. But 2 or 3 additional losses in games they "should" win - they miss and their record wont be bad enough to keep the pick away from Boston. <- correct me if im wrong on that ( I think it is top 10 protected?)

Anyway, the Lakers sure gotta get consistant in a hurry or they are in trouble!!

I like your picks, however i think the lakers can beat spurs at home as well as denver on the road.

The way this season has gone, I would not be surprised to see us cough up that 8th spot on the very last night to New Orleans with a loss to them. It would be a very fitting end to a very frustrating season.

I think Kobe will do everything he can to make sure that wouldn't happen that night... wait I take that back. Kobe does everything he can every night, too bad.

I just hope we beat the teams we should beat and if we don't, at least pick up a couple of wins from the top tier teams, we do have a few with Phoenix, San Antonio and Detroit etc.

Lakers finish 42-40 enough for number eight in the playoffs. If we play San Antonio we get swept, losing each game by an average of 13 points a game. If we play Dallas we loose 4-1, we lose by an average of 11 points a game.

all i have to say is the lakers are probably going to finish 8th which means either San Antonio or Dallas in the first round.

I rather play Dallas any day of the week because we still own them at Staples Center. Maybe we can steal a win in Dallas but it's going to be almost impossible to beat the Spurs because they are custom built to beat us. Everything they throw at us is focused on Kobe and he just doesn't have 200% of himself to give to the team to carry everyone else who will probably get shut down leaving Kobe to do all the work as usual.
