The rivalry isn't waht it used to be. But ire for the Boston Celtics remains in the hearts of many Lakers fans.

Note, the game is televised on FSN at 4:30pm.

I think the Lakers will rebound from the disaster of last game. The key matchup will be Kobe and Paul Pierce.

Lakers 102

Celtics 98

Boston (22-33) at LA Lakers (28-27)
Preview -
Game Info: Televised on FSN, 4:30 pm PST Sun Feb 26, 2006.

Two of the top scorers in the NBA face off for the first time this season when Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics visit Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bryant leads the league in scoring with 35.0 points per game and Pierce is sixth with 26.6 a contest, but that hasn't translated into much success for either of their teams this season.

Los Angeles has a slim lead over the Utah Jazz for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, while Boston sits in 10th place in the East.

Bryant's 39 points weren't enough on Friday as the Lakers lost 102-93 to the Los Angeles Clippers. He scored only 14 of those points after halftime, and the Lakers shot 36.4 percent from the field.

"We didn't play very well and we couldn't make shots," Bryant said. "We didn't execute."

Chris Mihm was the only other Laker in double figures with 11 points, and Lamar Odom had just eight after scoring 20 and 19 in his last two games.

"We wanted to get somebody else in this ballgame to score," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We kind of encouraged Lamar at halftime to get a rhythm out there and get his offense going."

Pierce got his offense going on Friday night by scoring 37 points in Boston's 102-96 win at Portland. He's scored at least 30 points in seven of his last eight games, and is averaging 32.8 in his last 10 contests.

"He's been great," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "He's been in a zone on the floor, off the floor with teammates. He's just been in a zone all the way around."

so hard to predict with this team, it just totally depends on which LO, Smush, Kwame show up. These three guys are the main prob IMO. I honestly believe these are three of the dumbest people in bball but once every four games these guys put it together. Kwames putting it together is 9pts 7rebs which I really doubt we get from him.

Lakers: 104
Celtics: 93

Kobe gets 37,with 7 assists,and 6 boards.........

Lamar 18 and 10 with 7 assists......Hopefully play much like he did the past two games before the last nightmarish one......

I hope the rest of the guys are ready to play......and the team "D" gets into a mood of allowing teams no more than the low 90's......

We need a nice 3 game win streak.............at the very least..... get that 6th seed, and most importantly a nice groove going.......

If Lamar shows up vs. that weak frontline, it should be no problem. Pierce is a tough cover but the Celtics are simply overmatched if Lamar and the roleplayers come to play.

The Celtics appear to be starting two swingmen in the frontcourt (6'7'' Wally Szczerbiak and 6'7'' Ryan Gomes)!

I hope Phil starts Brian Cook and brings Kwame off the bench. With LaFrentz starting at C, they'll have no interior defense to speak of. Look for Lamar to take it to the hoop early and often, and the Lakers getting away with Cookie's defensive shortcomings.

Pierce scores 30+ for the 7th time in 8 games, but the team in white prevails!

Celtics 104
Lakers 110

Kobe puts up 43 points to lead all scorers.

Remember how bad Wally schooled us the last time we played him? Do we have a defensive answer for him?

This will be the showdown between two former#1 draft picks, Kandi and Kwame. Which one will suck worse?

Perkins and Jefferson are both out, so there is nothing in the paint aside from Kandi.

The big key to the game...

DO NOT LEAVE WALLY FREAKING SCZERBIAK OPEN!

Kobe will probably cover Wally this time with George and Lamar rotating on Pierce.
