One additional point about today's loss : i thought our guys looked defeated right from the start, as if they were playing scared just because it was the second night of a back-to-back. We've become conditioned (even the fans) to expect let-downs in such games, and that has the effect of either adding to the pressure on the players, or mentally preparing them to have a bad game.
Phil (or Kobe) really needs to stand up in the locker room and say, "Guys, every team in this league plays back-to-backs...get used to it, and quit feeling sorry for yourselves!" |

Wasn't that amazing? The Clipps came out smoke'n in the first and the team act like they said (bleep) it we played yesterday. The Lakers may have matched energy with the Clipps twice during the whole course of the game. The rest of the time they completely bailed... WTF?
This was the worst display in this situation all season... That is maybe only the third or fourth time this season that the Lakers just got owned from the first quarter to the fourth... Some of the guys and yeah, especially my boy LO need to do some soul searching. They hung Kobe out to dry on this one and that was completely inex (bleep) cuseable!
Completey abandoned Kobe as if they didn't give a (bleep). Cook maybe can be excused since he elbowed "ugly boy" in the head but that was about the most passion that was expressed from them knuckleheads! _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

After checking the schedule, the Lakers have lost every 2nd game on the back end of a back to back starting from day one of the season when they defeated Denver and lost to Phoenix the following day. The Lakers have triumphed but once this year in this situation only against Philly, followed by the Clipps in January. The trend is something that Jax needs to vigorously address. If they continue to be "tired" for lack of a better term then, how about some "Riley style" workouts for people who just haven't developed enough stamina at this point in the season? If a player just does'nt have any heart just make him sit the (bleep) down. Followed up the next morning by a renogotiation of his contract. That was bull (bleep). The Clipps aren't all that. The Lakers made them look like championship contenders in that contest because of a complete lack of application! _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

yeah my point is basically that the coaches have got to find a way to break the players out of the losing mentality that they have in such games. it's a weak crutch/excuse for playing badly, and with this bunch, they seem to take any excuse to take the day off. |

Exactly what it looked like osj. Just completely took the day off! They got outworked, outhustled, in the opening minutes of the game and then bailed the rest of the game with the exception of the 2nd quarter mostly because of embarrassment in front of all those people I'm guessing. That was a very disheartening thing for us Laker fans to watch... _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

if you go into a game expecting to get whupped, you will end up getting whupped most of the time.
...and this, btw, is my 1000th post here at LG
gotta admit that i've been stuffing my stats a bit today once i realised i was almost at 1000, but it also happened that this was the first laker game televised over here for a long time, so i did have lots of stuff to say about the game for once. |

Congrats osj!
You need to download the Sopcast system so you can get some realtime broadcast my friend. It really does work!
I still have a problem feeling sorry for you though with all that fine weather you have in Singapore! _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

Uh, not to get in the way of what you love to do more than anything else but, just to keep from making yourself look silly. He just had to back to back games or 4 that were good to very good...

I'm sick of the excuses. It has nothing to do with a back to back. Part of what makes a back to back challenging is the TRAVEL....not getting into your hotel room til 3 in the morning after a 3 hour flight. These guys, didn't have to get on a bus or a plane. All they had to do was SHOW UP. We just a bunch of guys on this team starting with our so-called #2 option who just don't care. |

Man the problem is that Lamar has the skills and habilities to be a great player, and his lack of commitment and heart makes him mediocre. You don't see me bashing Kwame or Sasha that bad, why ? cuz they have limitations
Lamar's problem is lack of passion and commitment, and I hate that. When you have a job, you look to maximise your performance, you are expected to do that in every job, he does not, so that's why i dislike him so much. _________________ After 7 seasons I am a NON ALL STAR, in fact, I am a ROLE PLAYER making Superstar $$$

Sorry, don't buy it. It's easy to play well when things are going good. When the team is making shots, when they're in the flow, it's easy for Lamar to play well.
I'm interested in what Lamar does when things aren't going well. That's where character and a true caring for winning and achievement is revealed. You know what Lamar does when things aren't going well? He shrinks. He folds faster than an old guy whose viagra just wore off. |

I totally agree with the original posters thought. There really does appear to be a psychological barrier on the 2nd night of a back2back. With few exceptions, this really is a mentally weak team. Some of it has to do with how many rookies we have....some of it has to do with the fact that we have some players that really are mentally weak. |

Back-to-backs are tough physically. They are also tough, because there is no real time to prepare for the games. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |
