I became a Magic fan when I was about 4 (1980). Since Magic was my favorite player, the Lakers were my fav team. Been the same since. _________________ "This is the first playoff series where Kobe Bryant is not searching for greatness, and what happens? Greatness finds him." -Bill Plaschke, on Kobe in 2006 |

Mid 70's. I was a young buck who served as a lieutenant during Vietnam.
I was depressed at what I had gone thru, going to college, and looking
for some inner peace. I found it thru the incredible Lakers of the 70's.
Although an all around sports fan, no team resonated within me like the
Lakers, although the 70's Rams were a close second. The Lakers did more
for my psyche than they'll ever know. For that I'm eternally grateful. My allegiance to them will be life-long. |

Mid-70's in the era of "disco" Don Ford. Saw my first Laker game on a KLAC special tickets for $5 each. Got to walk down to courtside and get within a few feet of Kareem, and see how tall he rally was. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

it started out rough. I was 7 and Magic had just contracted the HIV virus. I dont remember too much about 91-92 tho. Greatest thrill of my life was when they swept the first two games at Phoenix in '93 |

Actually not only since birth, but right after conception but that was too long for my name....in the 60's _________________ 14 World Championships down and 4 to go in order to dig Red Auerbach up from his grave so he can choke on his cigar and die of a broken heart.

Nah. You're only a bandwaggoner if you stop rooting for your team when times are rough (like they were this year). _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

1971. The year of the 33-game winning streak.
I was getting bored with the Angels losing all the time and a little disenchanted when they released by cousin in A ball.
I got into it during the streak and I have to admit the big selling point was Chick. He made it all sound so exciting.
I fell asleep many a night listening to Chick. I also fell asleep listening to Dick Enberg and Vin Scully. Funny, I don't seem to sleep that well anymore.
The next year I tore my rotator cuff uncorking a throw home from center field. After that I found that basketball was about the only thing I could do that didn't hurt.
That cemented the love for basketballl. I been nuts ever since, which is why I read and post here. |

Being 20 and from Australia, where NBA coverage is scarce, I became a fan during the 90s (an NBA fan in general as well). The reason I became a Laker fan was because of Eddie Jones, whose probably my favourite player of all time. So obviously I didn't like when he got traded, but nevertheless remained a Laker fan, and will continue to do so. |

You got that right. True fans stick through the thick and thin. I would still much rather be a Laker fan than a Spurs fan right now. Trust me guys, it's very difficult dealing with Spurs fans because I live in San Antonio now. I just love seeing the looks on their faces when I have a Magic/Kareem or Kobe jersey on or am wearing a gold or purple Laker championship hat. You always stand by your team-good or bad! |

So far, you pass the sniff test. But one more question would have to be answered....
Was there a team before the Lakers? If there was and that team's first initial was B and ended with S, then there has to be some suspicion of bandwagoning going on. It's good that you're still hanging around, but you also have to honestly answer if you would be around if Kobe was no longer a Laker. |

I have actually tried to get interested in other teams this post season because basketball can be such an enjoyable pasttime, but it's like going on a blind date after the love of your life breaks up with you. I just can't relate. But now my Lakers are coming back to me and I don't have to watch second rate teams no mo! |
