I agree the Clippers should move back to San Diego. They have only been an LA team in terms of physical location - not in spirit. Kind of crazy that a city as large as San Diego doesn't have a team. |

"Kind of crazy that a city as large as San Diego doesn't have a team."
Well I myself live in SD and would love to have a profesional NBA team here again even though I am and will always be a hardcore Laker fan for life.
The problem is SD in general is a lousy city in terms of having profesional sports in here be it the MLB, NFL, or the NBA.
Right now the city is bankrupt and are having enough problems with the Chargers trying to get a new stadium built to keep the Chargers from leaving SD.
The Chargers are basicaly the Clippers of the NFL and Dean Spanos the owner of Chargers is like the Donald T. Sterling of the NFL.
So as much as I'd love to have a NBA team here. I highly doubt it would happen since the SD sports arena where the Lakers play a pre season game each year is hella old and have zero chance of geting a new arena built here. |

Well, a city can only financially handle building so many new stadiums in a short period of time. They just built a new ballpark for the Padres a couple years ago. New stadiums are very expensive.
I wouldn't call the Chargers the Clippers of the NFL. The Chargers have a long history of rich tradition and Hall of Fame players going back to the 60's to the great teams they had in the 80's and they were in a Superbowl in the 90's. In comparison, the Clippers have never even sniffed the postseason unless you want to count when they were called the Buffalo Braves. |

Imagine if the Kings do move to Anaheim and the Sonics move to San Jose? Maybe the Trail Blazers can move to San Diego.
Honestly though, I think the west is Lakers territory and I'd rather see teams relocate to St. Louis, etc.
But i looked at a listing of metropolitan areas by size and was a little surprised by the results.
1. Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA
2. New York, NY
3. Chicago, IL PMSA

I can see why SoCal would be targetted. I'd still rather see teams more spread out across the country though. _________________ BORN REBLE |

The Warriors play in Oakland and they have a bigger fanbase than you might think. Practically everyone from Nor Cal that isn't from Sacramento is a Warrior's fan. It's just that you don't see them much because we live in Lakerland. |

If any other team were to move to SoCal (be it OC or SD), I'd be all for it -
> more 'home' games for the Lakers
> ability to catch Laker games in SD or OC
> potential division realignment; ex: sonics -> San Jose = 'CA division'; less games against PHX |

I'm all for an OC team even the clips would be great at the pond. however, a third team in this area would be a joke especially the Kings! |

Yeah, the list i found was for metroplitan areas, not cities.
For example, anyone who has ever been to St. Louis would probably be surprised to see like i did, that St. Louis itself isn't very big. Its more like a patchwork quilt of a LOT of cities that together make the St. Louis metroplitan area what it is.
i guess the best would be a list of areas divided by television markets. _________________ BORN REBLE |

If they move down here they better come with a different name. There can only be one Kings team in SoCal. |

It's in the long-term plans to get an NFL team in LA, that really saturates this market in sports: 3 baseball teams (LA, Anaheim, San Diego), 2 hockey teams (LA, Anaheim), a football team and 3 basketball teams ...
The smart money follows what baseball has done. Keep the Lakers in LA, move the Clippers to Anaheim and the Kings to San Diego. It just makes more sense than having 2 basketball teams in LA and another in Anaheim, especially a team known for being hated by So Cal fans as much as the Kings are. _________________ MistiLynn
