I don't know about not giving maximum effort. Either the light is on, or the light is off -- no sense making a point about "off-ness." That's just a shadow in a world of illusion. Living in the illusion is comfortable. It is the truth that you really fear. - b.j. armstrong

Lakers seem to be suffering what B.J. described above - not giving maximum effort. The Heat might survived 1 or 2 playoff rounds, as stated by b.j., the Lakers cannot afford to play this way because their talent level is much lower. |

Suicides. If the players want to play tired, it must be the lack of conditioning. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Unfortunately you have to put 5 people in the game. |

Hmm. Okay: how about if we order Gary Vitti to taser the [fill-in your favorite body part here] of all slackers.
How's that?

lack of effort shows me that you just don't care. i mean if a team is scoring on you at will, this should motivate you to close on every shooter, leap for every rebound, dive for every ball, SPRINT back on defense. i don't see that.
the hunger to win should overcome any fatigue. wheres the hunger? |

It's pretty telling when the defense suddenly shows up when they realize they're about to lose to another crap team... _________________ "My thirst for domination is fed only by the game. I refuse to get distracted by outside forces." - Kobe Bryant |

** Kobe - obvious choice
** Sasha - some people might disagree and/or not like the results of his play, but he does come firing on all cylinders
** Turiaff - he has been a breadth of fresh aire with his contagious energy, enthusiasm and smart play
** DGeorge - his recent play has shown consistent effort and fast-rising efficiency
** Bynum - his rookie status has made him being aware that he should use his precious PT to the greatest use, despite his obvious inexperience and youth
** Luke - despite limited athletic skills/limited efficiency at times, changing roles within the offense and limited PT, he has given consistent effort while he's on the court
** Mihm - despite being foul-prone, a 7' player and a slight-above average athletic skills - he has consistently given his best efforts |

Tonights the night where we need more than any other part of the season MAXIMUM effort. We need a win streak. We can all tell just by watching who is loafing and guys need to be pulled immediatley. We need a win streak against quality teams in the worst way. Though GS a road win is always quality _________________ Lakers Tickets |

If there were a cure for lack of effort, I think the league's coaches would pay almost all of their salary to buy that cure.
I think the point about PT is right. Do not start players that don't want to play hard on defense.
That includes the two best players in the starting lineup. And the weaker ones.
I like what Phil did with Walton. He DNP for about 2-3 games. Then Walton comes back last game and has a good stretch. He might want to do that with some other players. |

If we don't see effort tonight for 48 minutes from everyone, we all need to bombard John Black with emails pissing and moaning about it, maybe it'll get back to the players we name |
