According to a report in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Stackhouse had some unkind words for the veteran Bavetta after Thursday night's game between the Mavericks and the Spurs.
"Somebody saw Bavetta get off the bus (Wednesday) night and I thought, 'Oh, (expletive).' I knew what was coming," Stackhouse said.
"Every time we see him, he wants to grandstand the whole game. It's supposed to be about the Mavs and the Spurs. It's not about him. Just call the (expletive) game. (Expletive) Dick Bavetta."

This isn't new. He isn't called Knick Bavetta because people think he's a super great ref. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

I thought Laker fans liked Bavetta. I'm pretty sure he's not in Lanny's infamous "Circle of 7". Wasn't he the one who reffed the game 6 that Nader and the Kings fans all complain about to this day? |

You are correct Statman that Bavetta is not in "The Circle of 7" NBA fixer ref crew.
However, he lost all credibility to me when he joined the bandwagon in the Pistons-Lakers Finals series and joined in with all the nonsense. I had hope when I saw him that night only to have it dashed when he called a jump ball violation on Snaq to open the game (as happened incredibly at the opening tip of the first FOUR games of the NBA Finals) and follow it up with the same touch fouls on the Lakers while letting the Pistons hack away at Kobe and Snaq without the Lakers smelling the bonus ever.
Since then, I realized he also has no integrity he is just not bad enough to make the Circle of 7 List consisting of: Joey Crawford, Bennett Salvatore, Bernie Fryer, Bob Delaney, Jack Nies, Ken Maurer, Steve Jobbie. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

It used to be a relief when Bavetta would call Laker games. I used to think, "this is finally going to be a fairly-reffed game." Unfortunately, like Lanny says, he usually screws us over now, and it started in that finals series. |

Bavetta's goal is to get his name out there. |
