GREENBURGH, NY -- Carmelo Anthony insists that when he returns to the floor nothing will change for the new-look New York Knicks. Jeremy Lin will continue to run the show.

"When I get back Jeremy will have the ball in his hands and I'm playing off of that," Anthony said on Monday.

The Knicks announced on their Twitter account that Anthony could return "toward end of week."

Many people have wondered over the past week how Anthony will fit into the Knicks' offense under Lin, who has become the talk of the NBA over the Knicks' past five games.

Forward Amare Stoudemire is slated to return to the lineup Tuesday after missing a week for his brother's funeral. He should benefit from the pick-and-roll. Anthony traditionally thrives in isolation situations. So far under Lin, the Knicks' offense has been predicated on ball movement. So some have questioned whether Anthony can adjust to things under Lin.

Anthony has seen the speculation on television and the Internet. And he thinks it's pretty amusing, calling Lin's recent ascension "a dream come true" for the Knicks (13-15).

"When I'm reading the stuff, it's more funny than anything because at the end of the day I know what I bring to the game, I know what I bring to this team," Anthony said on Monday after missing practice due to a strained right groin. "My teammates know that. But to say, 'How can I fit in?' It's easy; give him the ball and space out. I get back to doing what I know how to do best. So we'll see."

Anthony said he is confident that he can fit in well with Lin, who missed practice on Monday for a standard recovery day and will play on Tuesday against the Toronto Raptors. Anthony has missed the Knicks' last three games after injuring his groin on Monday against Utah. He is happy that Lin has emerged to take some of the load off of his shoulders.

"I know there's questions about, 'Can I fit in?' and stuff like that, but this is like a dream come true to me," Anthony said. "It takes some pressure off of me. I don't have to play point guard. I don't have to try to get Amare 20 points, try to get this guy 20 points, me try to go out there and get 25-30 points a night, play defense, rebound do the whole thing."

It will be a blessing in disguise for Lin. When the Knicks start to lose, that means that Lin's value will rocket up even though his production will trend lower.

He will be commanding a higher salary as a FA next year to teams who want to win instantly with any 4 on the court.

This.

If you look at Lins stats for the last 5 games he has been making more free throw attempts than most people in the league. Look it up. Unlike Rondo or some of the other top point guards he requires many attempts to get those big numbers. Carmelo also requires many FTA's to bring his numbers. There is only a finite amount of possessions per game. One of their numbers will drop.

Get over his race already. Mayweather is a moron. Name me one black player who has done this (as in, led a team as pathetic as the Knicks to a 5 game winning streak without their two "best" players) and didn't get any attention?? It helps that he plays in the biggest city in the world but he deserves all the attention he is getting. They're just mad that he is a Harvard graduate who can surprising play good basketball.

I think it's hilarious that Lin joined a team with Carmelo Anthony and A'm'a'r'e Stoudamire and immediately became the first option on offense. He completely usurped those two clowns.

No player in the NBA's history, since the merger, has had a start that parallels that of Lin.

Please don't be racist toward Lin.

George Karl himself complained about how the ball disappeared when Anthony got it in Denver.

Look at how the Nuggets move the ball around now.

Carmelo disrupts the flow of offenses.

The Knicks were talked about as being something the East had to reckon with. I think Jeremy is the missing link.

Someone has to stop the Miami juggernaut. Maybe it's the sleeping Kicks.

Melo wants to win. He'll sacrifice his role for the good of the team, IMO.

Stolen from a poster on another site I visit...

"If Lin dunked on LeBron at Yankee Stadium, and celebrated by Tebowing in front of Brett Favre, would ESPN explode?"

I think it's a great story. I'm glad Lin's getting a chance to excel.

I do have one concern and maybe it's being masked by all the wins thus far, but his TO avg is really bad over the course of the last 5-6 games. I think he's avg 4-5 TO a game. There are games where he's 8 TOs.

You guys think this is just more of an aberration or will this continue even when Melo comes back?

Honestly turnovers aren't something they should worry about. He's extremely young and obviously will make those careless mistakes, but as time goes on they will be limited. And this whole Melo fitting in thing is a good problem to have.

I will always hate him though. My first ever experience of watching the Lakers play, was him destroying my team.

Jeremy drives into the lane a lot and makes aggressive passes, which lead to these turnovers. But I'd rather have someone that plays like that and turns the ball over a bit than someone who plays timid and loses the ball because he is unsure of himself.

Also he did not have a training camp with his teammates so they are adjusting on the fly. He is still learning where his teammates like to get the ball.
