Ok, he's just an example - and likely this is meant to be (although quite
misguided IMO) an inspirational ploy by Jazz owner Larry Miller, but here's
his recent quote about his entire Utah team...

Quote:
"They are a bunch of pampered babies," Miller told the media. "We need some guys with some guts and some fire down the stretch. It wouldn't hurt me to turn over all 15 guys, but the trading deadline has passed and there's nothing we can do."

<LINK>

I had mentioned a few weeks back about my being ok with bringing
Boozer aboard if we could somehow get Deron Williams in the package.

Lots of us said it couldn't happen cuz they wouldn't give up on him so
quickly, and I agreed with that for the most part (still mostly do)...

...just fuel for thought though.

Might be worth at least looking into this summer, and if not Williams then
going by what Larry just said in the press, you can take your pick if you
can offer up the right pieces in return.

Something tells me AK47 isn't as available as that statement would make
him sound, but if Lamar Odom isn't gonna be our Scottie Pippen, AK47
for darned sure fits the bill

Any thoughts? Anyone ya like? Trade ideas for the summer?

When people over at CL talked about the big trade going down, and someone mentioned Boozer, I hoped we could snag Williams from them. Resign DG and send out something like...Mihm, DG, Sasha and a 1st

The Jazz should be kicking themselves for passing on Chris Paul, maybe even throwing themselves on their swords, but it would still be stupid to trade Williams after only one season. I think it's safe to say he won't be the heir to Stockton they were hoping for, but the dude still has some game.

But yeah, if Miller wants to turn over his entire roster, I'll take AK for Odom. Throw in Walton, since they seem to love slow white guys over there.

Agreed on Paul being better, but didn't we all pretty much know that
before they even came to the league?

Williams still has plenty of potential and could be a solid starter.

Not saying he's some savior.

But a lineup of...

Deron/Smush
Kobe/Jackson
Lamar/Luke
Boozer/Turiaf
(Mihm or Kwame)/Bynum

I put "Mihm or Kwame" because one of those two would have to be the
primary in an outgoing trade. Honestly, ya might have to package LO.

I'm not (although I did a couple weeks back) crunching the actual
trade numbers here.

Just sayin', if we could keep LO and add Booz and Deron, we're a pretty
formidable team all of a sudden - especially if we still have Mihm (or
Kwame for you Kwame lovers) to start at center.

I'd be happy to take Deron off their hands - don't think it'll happen, but would love to.

Miller is an idiot. It's hard enough to get players to want to come to Utah without him publicly humiliating his players.

They aren't going to trade AK or Deron.

If you look in the general NBA forum you'll see there's a thread about Millers comments. He used to say the same stuff about Malone and Stockton.

Williams would fit perfectly with what we got going on. Good ballhandler, tough, can hit the open shot and most importantly can defend.

Yup. Exactly.

Like I said in the first post, I think this was actually a (very misguided)
attempt to fire up his team.

Wrong way to do it though - and not the first time Larry Miller has screwed
things up that he should stay out of altogether as an owner.

Odom, DG, Sasha, Maimi Pick, Future Pick...AK47, Boozer, D. Will, cash...or maybe just Boozer and D. Will for Odom and Sasha or something...I don't care....maybe Kwame can play as a tall SF if Odom were traded....
