Who is Labron? Haven't heard of that guy
If you are referring to Lebron, until he does something about his self-acknowledged lack of a Kobe-level killer instinct, he will be the Peyton Manning of the NBA. He admits it.
Kobe at 30 will be in his absolute Jordanesque prime. 2008 will be his moment of glory, as he leads the Olympic team to gold! |
Excuse the spelling. Kobe is great, but he will never ever be MJ.
You can say whatever you want, but I believe Lebron is going to be the best ever. He is a better player than Kobe was at 21. | Sorry, 'Bron doesn't have the heart to be the best ever, dude doesn't even WANT to be the best.
Sorry again, but in pure skill, drive and focus, Kobe's already surpassed MJ. Kobe has had to be knocked down several notches by external forces just to keep the MJ dream alive! The league and media have to keep manufacturing HATE towards Kobe to make it look closer than it really is.
I've been a basketball fan since before Russell retired, when Lew Alcinder was a touted HS player, and the big "O" was leading most stats. I watched Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain butt heads on B&W TV, with rabbit ears as an antenna, before cable was even a distant promise.
Michael was a tremendous talent, Bird was a better shooter, and Magic was a better ball-handler.
Nobody can touch Kobe's combination of skills, focus and killer instinct... that's a FACT!
LeBron, is bronze '04, Kobe is GOLD '08! |

He'll still have 0 rings. |
If LJ had Shaq when he was in his prime along with Horry, Fisher, Fox and Co., he would have his rings as well. Dont fool yourself dude. It takes a team to win an NBA title. | Well, he had this team in the '04 olympics... where's the gold?
Carmello Anthony, Carlos Boozer, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Richard Jefferson, Stephon Marbury, Shawn Marion, Lamar Odom, Emeka Okafor, Amare Stoudemire and Dwyane Wade!
Put Kobe on that team without LeBron, they bring home gold! |

Aside from this debate of lebron vs. Kobe, I think one of the things Coach K wants is to align his team around someone who will take the Olympics seriously.
The WC's and the Olympics have become too much of a party with huge entourages for the players participating. The rest of the world has made significant strides to catching up with the US. The US still has far superior talent, but our players, coaches and staff haven't gone into it hungry the last few outings and you KNOW Kobe will. That alone will be a huge step in us reclaiming the gold and if he influences his teammates along those lines, as a coach you'd be smart to push him forward as your captain. |

That's for damn sure. Kobe doesn't take any kind of competition lightly. He will be one serious dude. |

There are a handful of journey man out there that have championship rings there, and do you think there better than Lebron? I don't think so, so when you compare Lebron and Kobe you really can't just go by rings.
Kobe reached 16,000 points in the league the youngest ever, Lebron will break that just because he is playing more. I mean Kobe didn't really start playing until his 3rd or 4th year. Lebron has been playing since he's been in the NBA so you really can't compare them what they did age wise. Just because Kobe went to a team that was more established and James went to a team that need him to play right away.
So how do you compare them you really can't because they are 2 different types of player. Kobe is known as a scorer who can defend. Lebron is more of a playmaker getting his team involved. Kobe is in your face either going to stop you or score on you. Lebron is relies on his teammates to make him look good.
Either way I think Lebron is good for Kobe just because Kobe will work that much harder to prove that he's better than everybody, so in a way it's a good thing Lebron is in this league. |
I think that was an excellant post my man. You are right. They are very difficult to compare. I just believe when both careers are finished, Lebron will have more titles and will be considered the more accomplished player. We will just have to wait and see. |
That's all fine and dandy but until Lebron proves he's not a defensive liability, he just doesn't compare to K8.... If you think his offensive brilliance overshadows his defensive deficiencies, you should watch tape and see who teams attack when they play the Cavs.. One thing is consistant in every game... they always attack Lebron... Hmm... I think I'll go with that old saying... Defense wins Championships! |

LOL don't know how this argument got so heated... but it's a pointless debate over who is the leader of the O squad... We have both Colangelo & Coach K stating that the team is being built around KB8... nuff said |

You guys are all right. Seriously if Lebron is the leader than why in the hell did team USA couldn't win in 2004??????Ahh Manu Ginobili is great and he deserves the gold accordingly to how the Americans played. Seriously Romy is right , all the other dudes saying Lebron is leader is either on hateraid or just plain old crack. Crack line I added myself. Seriously it's all Kobe . James,Iverson, and Duncan couldn't bring back the gold , we all know Kobe will bring home the gold without a sweat. An thas just the truth. I mean another thing you could also say to prove why Kobe Bryant is the leader and Lebron James is the interview about how Kobe feels about the Olympic team during last weeks ABC halftime interview with Kobe. Why did they not interview Lebron ??????Ohh Cuz he is not the leader .

I don't think anyone should be "given" the leadership moniker. I'm quite sure that when the (bleep) hits the fan, Kobe will be the guy taking the shot, defending the ball, willing his country to Gold. The idiots can talk all day long, the game is played on the hardwood and that is where the true leader of team USA will emerge. |

Lebron isn't clutch
Lebron can't defend
Lebron is a bad FT shooter
How can you say he will be better than MJ or Kobe ?
About Kobe and Lebron at 21 , you have to see this
http://www.nba.com/playoffs2001/finals/west/?nav=SiteFragment
That was Kobe at 21 against Spurs defense , playoffs, WCF.
Now if Lebron manage to go to the Finals and destroy the Spurs* like Kobe did at 21, you can begin to speak
Regular season stat padders don't count ( unless they break some records...) |
