Go for the gold with a real difference maker like Cassell or Ben.
Or even just take B-Jax, Nazi or Reggie Evans...I just hope Mitch doesn't convince Mitch (Richmond) to come back from retirement. |

I wonder if Nene would be available for rock bottom prices given his injuries? |

Was Curry available at rock bottom prices with a potentially bad ticker?
Young bigs always go for a premium as long as there is a 1% chance they can become an impact player.
I say minimum for Nene is 5 years $45M. |

I like most of the guys on this list, though I would if we ever got Keith Van Horn.
However, it would be very difficult to get a restricted FA with the MLE unless we are offering a very long term deal or the original team thinks little of said player. There's always sign and trade possibilities of course... _________________ -

We will only be offering 1 or 2 year deals so thoughts of getting the top players available at the MLE in FA is a fantasy.
On top of that the Lakers are not contenders.
Would you rather have Cook or KVH spacing the floor for Kobe?
A KVH signing makes Cook trade bait along with George in a S & T that might get us something good with a 1or 2 year contract.
I puke at KVH on his current contract but not on a reasonable short term contract.
Maybe we can trade him down the line for Tim Thomas. |

if rebounding is one of our main problems, ben wallace would solve that problem in a hurry.
secondly, like the millions of threads started before . . . this off season . . .

Ben would surely be lovely at that PF spot alongside Mihm. They would really compliment eachother. But unless Ben takes a paycut for a couple of years, how does one attain him without giving up talent?
But just imagining for a sec... if he signed for the MLE or something until he coule be given the big bucks, Mihm and Ben as the starters, Kwame as teh first big of the bench, and then you have Bynum developing at his own pace.
Suddenly you can start cutting off the perimeter and start funneling the offense into the sharks in the middle. |

No offense, but why is it you think Ben would take a pay cut to leave the #1 team in the league? _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

According to a poster on Club Lakers that works with Ben's uncle, Ben is fond of Kobe (would like to play with him). According to rumor, Ben has ended extension talks with the Pistons. That, when he's playing one of the best seasons of his career. |
this really isn't one of his best seasons...in '02-03 he was averaging 15 boards a game.. |

Realisticaly here are the players I think we would have a good chance at landing mostlu the PF's available this summer
PF Chris Wilcox
PF Lorenzen Wright
PF Reggie Evans
PG Marcus Banks
With the 1st round pick we got from Miami in the Shaq trade I think we should look for either PF or PG from a good college program and not take a risk on some project player from europe again like Mitch did when he drafted Sasha 3 years ago.
Realistc trades I like the Lakers see explore would be for us to try and trade with the Bulls for either Chris Duhon or Ben Gordon. It sure seems like the Bulls have a log jam with their back court with Hinrich, Deng, Gordon, and Duhon and I think Chicago was shopping both Duhon and Gordon at the trading deadline this year.
Wishfull think trade I would love to see us trade LO and Bynum for KG.This is the only guy I think who is worth giving up for Bynum. But the way things are going I really doubt KG is going to demand a trade this summer even though the T'Wolves are having a terrible season this year.It just isnt in KG's personality for him to demand a trade and leave and quit in a bad situation. Also T'Wolves owner Glenn taylor has already stated he wont consider any trades unless KG's goes to him and demands a trade. But yes I do remember what happened with Shaq two summers ago and hope KG finally makes up his mind and see that his best shot of winning a title is by forcing a trade to LA to play with Kobe and Phil |

I like those guys |
I still doubt we could get him for the MLE, but JT would be one helluva
nice fit to run the point. |
