He got 38/10/5 against the Pacers and then this is his third 30/10 game

Yao is dominating and showing that he is the leader of the Rockets

His last 10 games or so have been 2000 MVP Shaq-like.

I never thought he'd improve that much.

And i remember about 70% of people on LG screaming they didn't want Yao signed as a FA. Even some of the more respectable posters here....

Yao was "soft" and not skilled enough...

Damn hes wreckin... look what peja said

"He's unstoppable right now," Pacers forward Peja Stojakovic said after Yao's 38 points and 10 rebounds led the Rockets' come-from-behind 103-99 win. "He reminds me of when Shaquille O'Neal was in Los Angeles and winning championships."

Yikes. He's scary now.

Looks like his conditioning finally improved to the NBA level.

Yeah man I see him every game and this dude is turning to a beast. He's been a different player these last 9-10 games, single handedly carrying the Rockets w/o T-Mac most of the time due to injuries.

He's been much better since he got back from his injury. Either it was really bothering him, the rest did him major good, or he just plain turned a corner. Anyway, he might be the best C in basketball right now.

He finally got some rest after 4 straight years of summer obligations, qualifying teams, Olympics, WBC, you name it.

heres the big question. even with his game on the decline, shaq was clearly the best most dominant center in the league. anyone who could compare had their own weaknesses: ben wallace (no offensive game), camby (injury prone), brad miller (althoug good, not at all dominant), amare (not too much D, a pf not a center), duncan (doesnt claim to be a center), and yao (soft). it even looked as though shaq and zo were argueably the two best centers in the league.

with this big stretch of DOMINANCE in the last 9 games (not just scoring, but efficiency, fta (8pg, made at a high percentage), and blocks and rebounds (which he previously struggled with) is yao now the best, most dominant center in the league? if he keeps up this play theres no way you can say he isnt. he is throwing up amazing numbers in every department.

odd to say, yao is actually living up to all those allstar votes.

I dunno if I would call him "dominant" though. His numbers are dominant for sure, but I don't know if his game is.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Yao fan, but he tends to get his numbers really quietly. At the end of the game you'll look up and be surprised he got 30/12/3. It doesn't necessarily scare you to play against him. Not in the same way guys were scared to play against Shaq and Mourning in their primes.

If it came down to one game for a championship, I'd probably still take Shaq. But right now, I think Yao is the best C in the game.

Very impressive numbers. .

I used to think Yao was just going to be another Gheorghe Muresan or Manute Bol, but he has changed my mind.

I just don't like the way he runs, it looks like it is real painful for him. Do see him having a career that lasts more than 8 years?

The fact that he has post moves and *not* have overwhelming athleticism is probably a boon. As long as he can stay healthy and not get any freak injuries, he might be able to play for a long time. He's a half court guy and the hard work is on the defense end, rather than offensive. If it wasn't for international commitments he'd probably been a 36mpg game guy. Just look how broken down Duncan is after *one* summer in international play.
