You've met the person of your dreams. You enjoy every moment around this person. And after a bit of chasing, you've received assurances the feeling remains mutual.

But there's a catch in diving into such a relationship. You're going to have to cough up a lot of money. You're going to have to tolerate your beloved's annoying friends. You'll have to deal with intimidating parents.

Do the consequences still make it worth it?

To some degree, the Lakers are facing the same issues with Dwight Howard. They obviously covet him because he's still the league's best center. Despite Andrew Bynum's growth, his exit meeting with Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak and Coach Mike Brown lasted nearly an hour and a half, partly because they continuously emphasized that Bynum needs to mature. Meanwhile, the disgruntled Magic center, according to various reports, has finally indicated he's open to being traded to the Lakers.

Da, yeah...

yes. I'd even take Hedo since he'd be far and away our best 3pt shooter.

Steve Nash says, "WHAT???!!!"

There is no way this will happen. The only way the Lakers could take Hedo is to trade Pau with Bynum. It's not happening. Richardson is possible by trading Bynum, McRoberts, Blake, and Goudlock for Howard, Richardson, and Duhon.

But there is no indication Orlando wants Bynum on their team. I don't understand it. He is the 2nd best center in the league, and you either re-sign him or you sign and trade him, I just understand why that deal hasn't been done. If they don't want what Houston has, and they don't want what we have, they are going to take Lopez and Humfries for Howard and Turk? Instead of Bynum? I don't understand what Orlando is doing.

The Lakers are not taking back all of Orlando's over-priced players relative to what they actually contribute, and fans have no right to be pushing for them to do so. Ownership has already taken on far and away more than anyone could reasonably expect them to do. Even at that, they're still working to add even more talent to the bench, and some of you are whining for them to take back both Richardson and Turkoglu large contracts? Get real.

The Lakers are not desperate and have no reason to be, even if some of us act that way. We already have a superb roster, a dam good center and just need a few more additions. Trading Andrew for Howard and taking back Richardson is one thing because JR fills a need, but taking on Turkoglu, as well, is a ridiculous thing for anyone to suggest and is not going to happen.

The ingratitude for what has already been committed to by this franchise, and the sense of entitlement of some of us is truly mind-boggling.

That's the general way the human mind works. Once you have something, you want more.

I’d be okay with Turkoglu ($11.8 million; $6 million) and Duhon ($3.25 million; $1.5 million), as both are partially guaranteed in 2014.
