If the Lakers think he is the next T-Mac, why not? If other teams think he is the next T-Mac, he may require one of the top 3 picks.

Gerald Green

And

Orien Greene.

haha i dont think orien greene will be fallin in the top 5 this year...

i believe Gerald Green may be worth it...ive been studying him more and more and this week hes all ive been talkin about, but thats died down a bit because the liklihood that were able to move up to get him is slim.

my guy is Uric

The Trailblazers had Clyde Drexler, so they passed on Michael Jordan and drafted Sam Bowie to fill a hole at center.

Bowie was frequently injured and never accomplished anything remarkable in the NBA.

Jordan went on to win 6 titles, shattering numerous records along the way, and is often considered the greatest basketball player ever.

Moral of the story: In most situations, take the best available player. Green may well end up being the best player out of this draft. If worst comes to worst, one player gets traded. In the above situation, Portland trades one of their all-world guards and gets back a nice package in return, probably including the center they want.

^^ nice story

if greene turns out to be as good as expected, then, it would be a smooth transition when kobe retires for him to become the franchise player.

if its available, then do it

Garnett would be ideal; there's basically no chance for the Lakers to acquire him.

This seems like the sort of obsession that dooms a franchise to mediocrity for YEARS.

I have seen clips of Green ... and based on what most analysts are saying ... this guy is NO Jordan, James, or Kobe. Yes ... they say he has potential but his body is not close to NBA standards and his attitude AT BEST is just OK and at worst he is a head case waiting to happen. It is their mental and emotional strengths that have set the other three apart from their peers. This kid is NOT showing the kind of emotional maturity and competitive drive that he needs to become truly great.

Forget about Green. We have already made our choice and it is KOBE. We need to concentrate on either adding an All-Star sidekick for him or the type of strong role-players that will compliment him. Even thinking about wasting what few chips we have to add a "young kobe" is just plain dumb.

Exactly. KG is the purest of pipe. I'd have a better chance of winning the lotto.

absolutely. at worst, he is trade bait. at best, we have another swingman who in 2-3 years develops into an incredible player.
