Actually he is not a scrub.

He is an NBA star, just like Derrick Coleman was a star.

TT plays when he feels like it. Right now, playing for his next and last contract, he feels like it. Soon, someone, probably the Suns will pay Tim Tim one last time and he will, as he always has, disappear.

Lack of defense can make a scrub look like a star;
that's why for years, the Lakers have made just about every opposing guard look like an all-star, and every opposing all-star look like a hall-of-famer...
Which is why so many are screaming for a defensive-minded pg...

Agreed.

But I am making a difft point which applies to Tim and soooo many athletes like him.

He is 6'10" and very nimble. When he wants to he gets rebounds.

In Milwaukee from 99-04, he avg'd 26 to 32 mpg, 11-14 ppg and around 36% from 3, but he never avg'd more than 4.9 boards. Boards are about effort.

Now in the '06 playoffs with everyone watching (and his fat contract extension over) he is getting 7.5 boards per game (still only 28 mpg) with a 15 and a 14 board game. This against fairly tall opponents in the Lakers and the Clips.

Next year, no matter where he is, he goes back to 4 reb/game "guaranteed", just like his new contract.

Career 12 points- 4 boards- 1 assist 1-TO per game. Sure looks like a journeyman scrub to me.

I don't think he's a scrub, but I do think he's just a mediocre player.

That's why he said TT plays when he feels like it. He is a talented player, but he's just too damn lazy sometimes. Just like Kwame, at least according to Tex.

I've always wondered if Mike Bibby sends Derek Fisher a Christmas basket every year for helping him get that $80m contract.

Tim Thomas is a very good forward in the league. He would have been a great addition for our team this year. He was out there to grab but you have to have a GM with vision.

Yeah, especially with his incredible ability to finish inside or post up and his awesome defense.

Or have worked out a deal with his former team, as the Suns did. Thomas would only be released if he agreed to play for the Suns. The Lakers had no chance at him. I repeat NO CHANCE.
