Mike, Do you think that Larry Drew II could be on the Lakers' radar for a Summer team invitation ? He's sure not getting any NBA draft attention that I can see, despite having had a remarkable season in 2013 for the Bruins. He even set the program season record for assists (surpassing Pooh Richardson's old mark).
I'm intrigued (more than most observers) by him. I see a real good all-around college player who can defend his spot, pass and dribble with both hands, shoot the floater and the three (.433 in his final year), drive and kick out to spot-up guys, run an open court break and a half court offense. The knock on him I'd guess is the context-related successes (UCLA) and struggles (UNC) he he had, seemingly not a guy with any one elite level skill beyond being a set up man for scorers. He's 6'2" and 175. |

I read somewhere that there is a possibility that he goes undrafted.
I think he will be gone before we pick but I'd love to get another 2nd rounder and pick him up.
He is one of the youngest players in the draft with a lot of potential and I'd love to see how good he can be learning from Kobe. |

He should have stayed in school. He's with a high quality program.
But at that pick, have to take him, and think of him as a project HS guard. Needs the intensity, offensive discipline, IQ, and reformed jumpshot.
Athletic ability, ball-handling, natural ability to score all there. High D potential. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

It's hard to blame Goodwin for leaving, Kentucky practically pushed him out getting the Harrison twins and James Young. That's hardly his fault. |

But it's NCAA ball. They could have slid him to SF at that level.
I think the Harrison twins are overrated. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

If we can get the #23 pick what about Giannis Antetokounmpo?
Lottery teams are being scared off because he wants to play in the NBA next season instead of being stashed overseas for a few years.
Any chance he slips that far and how good of a player can he become? |

I've been getting a lot of interaction on twitter, if the Indiana trade were to go through, about who to pick at #23.
By Draftexpress mock. Ledo, Franklin, Canaan, Green
By NBADraft mock. Franklin, Canaan, Rice, Green

Giannis is not ready at all for any kind of NBA PT. He may seem big, but he'll get pushed around like a small guard. Average athlete, massive hands and wingspan, marginal set shot, and his only NBA skill is getting a defensive rebound and pushing the tempo. Except at the NBA level, there are guards tracking you down for a swat, not lower level Greece basketball players getting out of the way.
I really think he could get hurt out there. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Well that may be, but it's not just position, it's also usage of their recruits as well. He's a ball dominant guard. |

I'm with you. I watched some UCLA games the last 2 years and was impressed by Drew's improvement and ability overall by the end of this season. He was very selective with outside shooting but had a great (no exaggeration) touch on open 20+ ft shots. He has better pg skills than anyone on their bench and there's no doubt that, along with his youth will make him an asset on this team. Imho, he would be one of the best SPL players they've had in years. The guys (on the current roster) were horrible the last couple of summers. I even believe Drew is more NBA ready than his overrated teammate, Shabazz. |

Ryan Kelly or Seth Curry.
Kelly can be a good stretch 4
Seth can be a 3p specialist. |

Lots of athletes to invite to summer camp available for the Lakers: CJ Leslie, DJ Stephens, Mick Kabongo, James Southerland, Kenny Kadji. Would be nice to get 1 or 2 to our camp?? |

Where my guys went.
\
Most preferred of those names in order
Nemanja Nedovic - 1st round
Solomon Hill - 1st round
Alex Abrines - Early 2nd round
Mike Muscala - Mid 2nd round
James Ennis - Was available at Laker pick
Peyton Siva - Was available at Laker pick
BJ Young - Undrafted
Myck Kabongo - Undrafted
Ray McCallum - Mid 2nd round
By far the most insane draft I've ever experienced. Mocks were lucky to even get 10% right.
Deep down, I wanted Muscala to keep slipping. All he needed was strength, and while I thought he'd be a Spencer Hawes type, I'd hope he'd end up like Marc Gasol beside Pau, because he really does have that hoop IQ, length, and skill level to work the high post.
James Ennis was in the Lakers back yard.
Peyton Siva was also available, and a favorite among fans of this site. Would have liked that too.
I just really hope the Lakers take a chance with some rookie FA signings as well. They still have a chance to capitalize on this opportunity to not just fill out a roster, but foster ascending NBA players to fulfill their skills with athletic talents. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I knew solomon hill would go first round. I knew it.
He is legit.
Pacers are really smart at selecting good defensive players. |
