|
|
"This isn't a new rumor. It's an old rumor with new juice. Word first drifted out of Philadelphia early in the season that Iverson wanted out. The Hawks were mentioned as a possible destination because the Hawks always are mentioned as a possible destination. It's the residue of having salary cap room. And agents."
"Iverson-to-Atlanta (or anywhere) was resuscitated when the Sixers went 8-16 down the stretch and missed the playoffs. Iverson and his partner in baggage, Chris Webber, planned to sit out the year's home finale. They didn't arrive until just before tip-off. They weren't on the bench for fan appreciation night. Oops.
"Iverson would give the Hawks a presence. A toughness. A guy who actually wants the ball when the game's on the line. He has flaws. Big ones. But stars without flaws generally aren't available, so we debate risk-reward. Iverson scores points and sells tickets, and the guy on my shoulder won't shut up."

what can the Hawks give in return? I doubt they want to give up too much of their young core. Do they have any bad/big contracts that can be the base of a trade package? |

It would be a sign and trade involving Al Harrington and probably a pick or young player. |

What if the Hwaks trade em Harrington + Marvin Williams? Theyd look sick.
Pachulia
Josh Smith
Childress
Joe Johnson
AI
That team would be fun to watch, but yeah, theyd go nowhere. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

Wow, they have a TON of cap space next year. They would have to give up some guys in sign and trades I'm sure. Perhaps Joe Johnson too? He is a pretty good player and they might wanna keep him but if they can get AI then they will actually get some people to attend their games. |

The NBA will be putting AI on suicide watch if that happens. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

No kidding. Does AI have a trade approval clause in his contract? You can bet he's not signing off on a trade like that. Plus really, if you're Atlanta, sure he puts fans in seats, but they have a nice young core and do you really want to bring in an aging small guard who's going to stunt development of your other young guys? |

Sooner or later AI's gonna end up on the Knicks. Shaq too. But not yet. Give both those guys a couple more years to get slower and more broken down then the Knicks will be there to gobble up their huge, overpaid contracts just for their name value. _________________ "People don't think it be like it is, but it do." - Oscar Gamble
