Just saw a segment in Game Time where Rick Fox was interviewing Kobe. When asked if he was ahead of schedule: "I feel I'm ahead of schedule right now. If there was playoff game tonight, I'd play."

He's basically saying that he will only come back if the Lakers are in a good position to succeed, he's not gonna come back if the season is heading to the toilet.

Did Rick Fox tell him we are the lakers, we don't tank? Every game is a playoff game.

Probably not, because neither Fox or Kobe has a minimal understanding of what tanking is. They are winners.

it makes sense for both parties. for Kobe, there's no reason to jeopardize his health to play in this wasted season. for Lakers, having Kobe back will definitely get more regular season W's but not enough to make any noise in playoffs, but can definitely ruins the chance of getting a high draft pick. just take a year off Kobe.

Kobe is in a contract year, he will play when he is healthy enough to play.

I'll start getting concerned about Kobe if he's not back at practice before early December. Always had heard that earliest return date was end of Nov. If in 3 weeks time he's still not doing basketball drills and stuff, we're going to probably look at definitely missing the playoffs this year.

no need to rush kobe. barely started practicing, so now have at least a solid week of practice before even attempting to play in real games.

no need to get reinjured by compromising other body parts for achillies.

I really hope he isn't rushing it. Although I would be so stocked to see him again, I don't want him to hurt it by rushing

Good timing. The team has four days off after Sunday's game. Get some good practice time in.
