Yeah, I saw that. The Jazz aren't dealing Hayward, and they're certainly not throwing in their unprotected 2014 1st for the hell of it.

The Jazz think Gordon Hayward is a unicorn. They wouldn't trade him for any player not named Chris Paul, Kevin Durant or LeBron James.

Cavs fans are so used to sucking that they aren't seeing the big picture. The whole point for them is to make the playoffs and start being successful before Kyrie gets sick of it all and decides to leave. They aren't going to get there continually failing at draft picks and loading up on prospects that they'll never fully develop.

Kyrie + Pau could probably make it pretty far in the East this year if they click.

Yes, but that is a huge risk that hardly anyone has ever done. That's what, a $50-60M gamble? I forget what the max is but you are basically declining 4 years of guaranteed max salary. Has anyone ever done that?

Has anyone ever given up an extra year and over $30m in guaranteed salary plus off-court opportunities from one of the winningest franchises in the NBA?
Dwight Howard

yeah thats kind've what coach slick was getting at

You'd think a Rockets fan would see the irony.

Completely different scenarios. Besides that, why would Kyrie Irving want to come here for a discount? Miami, I might be able to understand. But why here as things stand?

Because we are the lakers, we don't tank.

The last report I posted said the Lakers are "cooling" on trading Gasol. Who knows, Mitch probably doesn't even know.

How long before the trade deadline expires, does Pau go back to being Pau? I say within a week.

Anyone who thought about it for more than 2 seconds would realize 2014 lottery picks are untouchable, especially the Jazz's.

Don't see what's so funny. It's not like LG is any better?

Go look at the first few pages

"Gasol for Bynum,Waiters, AND their #1 overall pick Anthony Bennett and a lottery pick or no deal!"

"Kendall Marshall reminds me of Tony Parker and Jerry West"

After the very 1st game of the season:

"Lakers not best starting 5 but possible best overall?"

all those guys are thinking Pau is done and they are doing us a favor by taking Pau's contract...

I think the lakers can have Asik/Lin any day of the week for Pau...Lakers just dont want to take that kind of salary back

I'm sure this is probably the pipe dream of the rebuild but here's what I'm hoping for:

Trade Pau/Blake/Meeks to Cleveland for Bynum/Waiters/Varajeo and a 2015 1st round pick.

Trade Kaman/Hill/Williams to Oklahoma for Perkins and a 2014 1st round pick (from Dallas) and a 2015 1st round pick.

OKC and Cleveland beef up for the playoff runs and get some salary for next year off their books. Meanwhile, we set ourselves up nicely to tank for the 2014 draft, while picking up some major assets. Even though we won't sign any major 2014 free agents, we will have two expiring contracts in Varejao and Perkins, a nice young asset in Waiters, and 2 first round picks in 2015.

Now....the Lakers have the assets to try and trade for the likes of Love or Rondo next season, and they are also well positioned to sign them in free agency in 2015 (or Aldridge, or Marc Gasol). I guess the point here is that you can't just play the free agency game or just tank and hope to draft well. You have to have flexibility.

Cavs want to make playoffs this year so they are not going to trade Varejao

i prefer to trade hill to Suns for 1 of their 4 1st round picks...
