TORONTO -- The Lakers won consecutive games for the first time in almost a month, beating the Toronto Raptors, 112-106, on Sunday at Air Canada Centre.
Swingman Nick Young had 29 points off the bench after serving a one-game suspension for punching Phoenix guard Goran Dragic. Rookie forward Ryan Kelly had 17 points in his first NBA start.
The Lakers were sharp from three-point range, especially Young, who made five of seven. The Lakers were 12 for 22 (54.5%) from long range as a team and improved to 2-1 on their annual Grammy trip. They beat Boston, 107-104, on Friday.
The Lakers hadn't won consecutive games since Dec. 17 and 20.
The Lakers (16-25) started poorly on defense, letting Toronto take a 58-54 lead, with the Raptors shooting 58% in the first half.
But they were better in the second half, especially down the stretch.
Kelly and Young scored 14 of the Lakers' last 18 points, with Kelly starting their final push on a fall-down leaner with 6:20 to play.

TORONTO -- Nick Young says the Los Angeles Lakers have woken up since airing some grievances at a team meeting last week.
Young returned from suspension to score 29 points, Pau Gasol had 22 and the Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors 112-106 on Sunday, just their third win in 15 games.
"Nick's been doing it all year and he just keeps going," Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said.
Young was suspended for Friday's victory at Boston after he was ejected for throwing a punch at Phoenix's Goran Dragic in a loss last Wednesday. Rested and refreshed, Young scored 15 points in the fourth quarter as the Lakers overcame a 19-point first-half deficit. They won back-to-back games for the first time since beating Memphis on Dec. 17 and Minnesota on Dec. 20.
Los Angeles held a team meeting before Friday's game to address Young's ejection, and suggestions that his teammates had not done enough to stand up for him after a hard foul by Suns center Alex Len. Young called the meeting "a turning point" in what's been a dismal season so far.
"We had an altercation that woke us all up and we're out there battling with each other now," Young said. "Now we're just laying it out there."
Ryan Kelly scored 17 in his first career start and Kendall Marshall had 10 points and 11 assists. |

Young, who sat out Friday's game in Boston for throwing a punch two nights earlier in a loss to Phoenix, made 5-of-7 3-pointers, four of the makes coming after the break. Pau Gasol scored 22 points and Kendall Marshall recorded his fifth straight double-double with 10 points and 11 assists as the Lakers won their second straight following a six-game slide.
DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and Kyle Lowry had 21 for the Raptors, who were denied their first season series sweep of Los Angeles in franchise history. Patrick Patterson contributed 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench, helping Toronto secure a 47-31 advantage on the glass.
The game featured a wild exchange of runs, with Toronto using a 20-2 burst - including eight points from DeRozan - in the first half to claim a 50-31 advantage, only to see Los Angeles get eight points from Wesley Johnson and seven from Marshall in a 23-8 surge that made it 58-54 at the break. The Raptors opened the third quarter with 12 consecutive points - seven by Lowry - to go up 16 before the Lakers came all the way back to claim an 82-81 lead entering the fourth. |

They won back-to-back games for the first time since beating Memphis on Dec. 17 and Minnesota on Dec. 20.
Ryan Kelly scored 17 in his first career start and Kendall Marshall had 10 points and 11 assists. The Lakers reached the midway point of the season with a record of 16-25.
DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points, Kyle Lowry had 21 and Patrick Patterson 17 as Toronto's six-game home winning streak came to an end.
The Raptors, who won 106-94 at Los Angeles on Dec. 8, failed to record the first season sweep over the Lakers in franchise history.
Amir Johnson had 13, Greivis Vasquez 11 and Terrence Ross 10 for the Raptors, who have never won consecutive home games against the Lakers.
Vasquez made a hook shot, then stole a pass from Jodie Meeks and, after a pair of misses, banked in a jumper to put the Raptors up 94-91 with 6:42 left.
Young's 3-pointer with 3:40 to go gave the Lakers a 100-96 lead, their biggest of the game to that point, causing Toronto to call timeout.
Amir Johnson later fouled Kelly on a 3-point attempt, and the rookie calmly drained all three free throws to give Los Angeles a 105-101 lead with 1:58 remaining.
Young's third 3-pointer of the fourth quarter put Los Angeles up 108-103 with 1:21 to go. |

Steve Nash making a return to a country where he’s served as a living inspiration for all Canadian basketball players and the national team’s current general manager?
Nope. Nash is training in Vancouver to heal the nerve issues in his back. Instead, Lakers backup center Robert Sacre took over ambassador duties.
“I don’t think of it as that,” Sacre said before the Lakers’ 112-106 win Sunday over the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre. “But I’m very proud to say that I represent Canada.”
The Lakers are, too.
“He got us right through customs easily,” Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni joked.
The Lakers like Sacre beyond travel conveniences. After being tabbed Mr Irrelevant as the 60th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Sacre has assumed a more relevant role with the Lakers, averaging 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds through 14.2 minutes both as a reserve (18 games) and starter (eight).
“I look at it as a blessing in disguise,” Sacre said in his draft standing. “It kept me hungry and kept me on my toes in getting better.” |

But so far they're taking advantage of six consecutive games against the East, beating the Toronto Raptors, 112-106, Sunday at Air Canada Centre.
Their winning streak stands at two after they also beat Boston, and they've won consecutive games for the first time in almost a month (Dec. 17 and 20).

"Has it been that long?" Pau Gasol said with raised eyebrows.
Yes. It has.
The Lakers had a nice bounce against the East's third-place team. Of course, it meant Toronto was only 20-19 after losing.
Nick Young returned, happily, from a one-game suspension with a season-high 29 points. Ryan Kelly didn't look like a rookie and had 17 points in his first NBA start.
Predictably, Young smiled the entire time as he spoke to reporters afterward. Unpredictably, he took credit for the Lakers' fight last Wednesday against Phoenix, the one where he punched Goran Dragic in the face and later said teammates failed to show any support.
"We had a little altercation that woke us all up," Young said. "We're out there battling with each other now. . . . We sat down and talked and now we're just laying it out there. I went on my little retreat, got my mind right and I came back and these guys made it easy for me tonight."

A semicircle at Steve Nash's locker? Try again. Nash was on the other side of the country, trying to rehabilitate his bad back in Vancouver for one last run at playing this season.
Robert Sacre was the man of the hour Sunday, holding court with a dozen writers, only some of them American, in returning to his homeland.
Sacre, 24, played high school basketball in Vancouver before going to Gonzaga and eventually being grabbed by the Lakers with the 60th and final pick of the 2012 draft.
His second NBA season has been up and down, but he's getting more playing time than his rookie year and, accordingly, more attention from the media here.
It helped that Nash, Canada's undisputed most-adored basketball player, was not on this trip.
Other than attending West Coast Conference colleges, Sacre and Nash couldn't be more different. It didn't deter the Canadian media from continually comparing Sacre with Nash as he made his way through the pre-college ranks.
"It was weird," Sacre said. "We play two different positions. Two different spectrums completely. But they compared the recruiting aspect and all that. Nash has always been an inspiration for a lot of Canadians, especially for myself."
