Look at what's happened since he left. Plus the dude's kind of freaky. I wouldn't be surprised if he was into some dark shiz. _________________ Not a legend |

In a sense... Bynum's mindset was "one step away" from having him dominate the Center position. If... and it's a BIG IF... his head was on right, he has the skill and size take over games at both ends of the court.
Unfortunately, maybe because he was drafted into the NBA so young, he never got it all together... so we were only privileged to see glimpses of his ability to dominate.
What could have been... if we had traded Bynum for Melo back in the day (just like Phil Jackson and Mitch Kupchak wanted but was overruled by Jim Buss).
I blame the FO 100x more for our problems (hiring D'Antoni, Howard walking, going from Odom/Bynum/Gasol to an aging Gasol with no compensation, etc). _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season. |

We need to go away from analytics and hire some poor, adaptable freelancer to comb the Caribbean for a decent shaman...this team has fallen under someone's bad juju. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

Bynum didn't curse us when he left, he cursed us when he was here. |

Yeah based on this, you could make the case that they were cursed since the LO trade, since things have gone down hill since that time. But if you really think about it, it's just the new CBA, and the affects of huge culture change with Phil Jackson leaving and our core players being old. |

Bad juju ever since the team got rid of Phil, his coaching staff and all those other long-time Lakers employees all at once, for no apparent good reason. |

Ever since the little toddler sadly fell from the box seats and died during the game in Nov 2010, we have been on a downward spiral. _________________ "The best there is. The best there was. The best there ever will be.", said Bret Hart regarding the Los Angeles Lakers.

The kid fell in 2010-11 season, and yes if anything, that's something that could have messed up "juju".

I first put 2011, but went back and edited it to say "Nov 2010", accidentally typed 2012.
I always F up years. Last week I made a check out to someone while they were in front of me and accidentally wrote the date as April 4, 2008. This was literally last week. January. 2014. _________________ "The best there is. The best there was. The best there ever will be.", said Bret Hart regarding the Los Angeles Lakers. |

Yeah I meant the same as well. 2010-11 season. Right after 2nd championship. If you believe in sports juju, that was definitely something there.
Very tragic event. Clearly an accident though.
Another thing - again if you believe in this type of stuff - firing all those loyal employees after 25+ years of service to save a few bucks in the lockout, only to not even rehire most of them once the lockout ended. Of all the teams in the NBA, I can't think off too many others that did sort of thing. And if anyone could afford to not do it, it's the Lakers. You certainly weren't getting any good karma from doing that to your employees. |

I've always believed that Phil's arrival in 1999 brought us that good juju that changed our culture, and once he left we reverted back to the chaos we had in the late 90s. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

The whole Bynum situation is just more proof of how great and smart a coach Phil Jackson was. Bynum was injury prone and had a terrible attitude, yet Phil figured out how use him and be sucessful.
Looking at where Bynum and Lamar Odom are right now and the serious emotional issues they have it is astonishing that Phil Jackson was able to win multiple titles with those two as integral parts of the team. |
