Do you think that now that PJ is running the Knicks he will pursue signing Pau this upcoming offseason. Even though they had a rogh last season together they made amends that summer, and PJ praises Pau in his book to the point of saying he would like to have him as a son. What are your thoughts? Do you think this is a real possibility?

Nobody. But I care about Pau and Phil Oh, and the NBA might care about the Knicks market...

If Pau wants to play for the MLE, go ahead and knock yourselves out.

With the Knicks likely in the tax, they can't give him more than the mmle, and they can't receive him via sign and trade.

Iirc, Phil was actually very complimentary of Pau in the books he has written.

Too bad we can't do a sign and trade anymore.

Pau for Tyson would be perfect.

Yes we can. Question is why the Knicks would.

I get confused w/this new CBA, I thought if one of the teams was over the cap then they could not be involved.

So let me get this straight, SINCE the Lakers are under the cap, they could re-sign Pau and trade him to the Knicks?

No. Since the Knicks will likely be tax payers, they cannot receive a player via sign and trade.

You're right. Aww, need a cup of coffee this morning. hangover from this past season.

Although, theoretically, couldn't they waive say Amare, stretch him? Would that get them under the apron?

They waived Chauncey Billups

What the heck Yinoma, get your A game on.

Ha. Drunken stupor from this season. But by waiving, I didn't mean amnestying, but the stretch provision. So instead of say a $21m cap hit, a $7m one stretched out (no reason they do this but just hypothetically speaking).

Won't help, way over still even if they stretch Amare.

If Melo walks we can do this if he doesn't we can't.

Knicks without Melo and Chandler going out in a sign for Pau.

7 players = $51,428,077 Million
5 minimum players around = $6 Million
Gasol sign and trade = $10 Million

Knicks total salary after = $67 Million

Luxury Tax supposed $77 Million

Tax Apron which is the key to sign and trade $81 Million

Knicks without Melo and Chandler staying

8 players = $66,024,965 Million
4 minimum players around = $4.8 Million
Gasol sign and trade with an exception from Melo trade or 3 way trade for Melo = $10 Million

Knicks total salary after = $80.8 Million
Luxury Tax supposed $77 Million
Tax Apron which is the key to sign and trade $81 Million
