Let it be written in stone: Joe Johnson is absolutely better than James Harden. I've been impressed with his play as of late. He is quietly playing at a top 5 caliber player level. His efficiency in game 1 is incredible. Another possible torch bearer? You betcah

Oh and a little twist: Joe Johnson is better than Wade.

Joe Johnson and Paul George are passing the torch back and forth to each other imo.

Time for Joe Johnson to pass Paul George's torch to LaMarcus Aldridge.

Choke city!

Love talking to Houston fans that talk themselves to believe this year will be different. This year Harden will stop choking in playoffs you watch they say...

Add the clutch play to his stellar shutdown D? The best SG in the game!

Joe was always more talented. Take the euro travel and ref help away and what does Harden have left? Joe's got an old school game. Footwork and skills. It's not exciting for Stern, er silver.

On career, they are incredibly close:

Johnson / Harden
Points: 17.5 / 18
%FG: 44.3 / 44.5
% 3-pts: 37.2 / 36.9
Rebounds: 4.0 / 4.0
Assists: 4.2 / 3.9

Harden plays a bit less and is a bit better in steals and FT. Johnson losses a bit less the ball and does a bit less fouls. Johnson shoots more than Harden who has more FTs.

A major difference is that Harden is going up while Johnson is going down. 4 years under 20 points a game while being the supposed main scorer.

comparing Joe Johnson vs Harden is like comparing Kobe and LeBron (pre-Miami). not saying Joe Johnson is at Kobe's level but both of them are very skilled big guards who can play on the perimeter and in the post, both have good fundamentals and are good shooters. Harden right now is just playing to draw fouls, his outside shots is too inconsistent to be consider his primary weapon. without the whistles, Harden is not even on the same level as Monte Ellis. the most shocking thing about Harden is he has great size for a SG and good athleticism, but he does not use those attributes on defense. it's sad that we can all say Dwight Howard showed more heart and clutch than Harden in that game 1 loss.

You would think that JJ being 6'7 and occasionally playing SF, he'd be better than a 4 per game rebounder...

I would also point out that Harden's 3.9 dimes a game for his career isn't indicative of who he is right now, as he's droppped 5.8 & 6.1 respectively the last 2 years, while at the same time dropping back to back seasons of 25 PPG, a feat which JJ has only accomplished once in his career.

For my money, Harden is the better player, even if he is something of a manufactured superstar.

Harden plays little defense, so it is hard to say he is better than those that do.

exactly. Harden is very overrated. He and Lebron are in the same category that way.

He is the worst wing defender in the league.

You've got to be kidding. Harden might have his problems with D, but he looks like Walt Frasier compared to Monta--OK exaggeration, but you get the point.

Monta Ellis?

Here are his playoff numbers: 9.8/2.5/2.1 shooting .397 and .133 from the 3, with an Ast/TO of .96, and with negative win shares.
